Ranking the draftees - Talls

I have decided that in order to do a mock draft, I would be best served ranking the draftees.
Rather than make it overcomplicated, I am dividing them into Talls, Mediums and Smalls.

Talls ranked in preferential order

This is a work in progress, I would like some comment about the order I have them in and those I have omitted.

Good work mate.

I'd have Allen ahead of Renouf & Collier ahead of Hampson. Rate Garland ahead of the likes of Tarrant and Jacobs.

Still, a very interesting read mate.

Thanks for the advice, I'm happy to move Garland to near the top of my third tier, but I'll keep the others where they are for the time being.

Frawley probably a little low also mate.

I find grouping them in tiers a better way to break certain groups of players down.

Caleb Mourish probably should be in the bottom tier also. Even with the hype.:p

Jesse White is actually 101.7kg, as weighed at the Draft Camp....Terrific work, surprised that anyone could be bothered puting together a list like that, which is good work St.Kildonan!!!

surely sellar is first teer

If you go on the champs, then he would struggle to make the 4th tier, illness or not.

M.Brown and Dawes were very impressive in the champs.

Major Queries here:

Hawkins - Definately first or early second tier. Better than Sellar at least.

Dawes - Definately very Early third teir. He has slipped off of the radar because of his knee. But was better than Jarryd Allen in the champs, and i rate him better than Riewoldt, definately alot higher than what you have him.

Caleb Mourish - Way too high, the hype is taking over, he had an absolutely deplorable screening result, and very few people have even seen him play. an AA KPP in Jarryd Allen is rated behind him which is very strange.

Mitchell Brown - Should be where Morton is imo.

lachlan button...has just reached the 200cm mark weighs in around 98kg. great tap ruckman, also with superb hands from glenelg, with reserves experience. good defence mind always running back to help out defence and is a more than handy target up forward and good on the lead. played u18's and did the state screening in SA. is definitely worth a look after dominating school footy at Sacred Heart for the past two yrs wer he was seriouslt not ever beaten.

I think Todd Goldstein (Oakleigh Chargers premiership ruckman) might surprise a few and go top 40.

If he didnt have the heart the size of a pea. ure right he mgiht be a gun. or if he didnt have a bum the size of the grand canyon and if he didnt have skinfolds that register off the scale.

Shoe me another KPP who had over 20 possesions in two games. I am no defedning his performances becuase they were terrible but if that is as bad as it gets. I'd be stoked

Hawkins tier 3!?!?! That just reeks of jealousy/envy whatever you want to call it. The kid is an absolute gun and smashed Gumbleton and all comers when he played on them.

He is clearly the best kpp in the draft and will barring injury will certainly prove it from as early as next year.

I'm assuming Lingy has left Hawkins out because he has already been taken and it is no use putting him in to this list which is designed to assist posters when forecasting.

Smash Gumbelton and all comers.....? I doubt it very much mate.
1) The delivery he got in that carnival was second to none- the vic metro sde worked there forward line around him hence the theory that vic met are there to win the tournament rather then get blokes drafted which it fine.
2) Gumbleton and Hansen will most probably be better footballers in the ed becuase they will bulk up. Hawkins cant get any bigger he has relied on his size for his whole life coz he has always been bigger then his opponents, in the AFL he is not going to be bigger then his opponent- then waht will happen. Players like luenberger, gumbleton, sellar, thorpe, gibbs have all played against senior opponents with bigger bodies so they have had to learn other ways to find the footy- its not always as easy as sticking your bum into a bloke, watching him fall over, taking the mark and then kicking the goal.
No doubt Hawkins is a steal in the 3rd round however dont count your chickens before they hatch as they say- its guys like you who are putting all the pressure on Hawko and will make him crumble

I see hawkins as a definate first round pick if he wasn't a fater/son pick. But to rate him as high as gumbleton and hansen is abit of a stretch.

If he was in the national draft he would go from pick 3-7 is my guess. Hawkins doesn't look to have as much upside as the two mentioned before either. I'd have him ranked just before sellar. But everyone is downplaying sellar because of his illness/injury.

Sellar actually has very very good pace for a big guy, but tested poorly because of the extra bulk he has put on.

I can invisage sellar getting to an afl club and then toning up all his puppy fat. Him losing all the excess extra weight he does not need to carry and then becoming as fast if not faster than he used to be.

hawkins is a big unit but. david neitz style.. lets take him to play the irish hehe. Him and jonno brown in the forward line will give the irish major headaches

Yeah sorry didnt put him in because we all ready know where he is going i would rate him between leunberger and gumbelton.

Im pretty sure Hugh Minson beat him hands down in '05. It wouldnt be hard to beat the other ruckman in 06. St Peters had a yr 10 in ruck, PAC just had a guy who could jump and all the other schools had hacks rucking. He did nothing in the 18s champs despite being "200cm and 98kg"
