Lets face it, we have no idea what our “forward line” will look like from week to week. Horse thinks it’s a good idea to play the best forward of the last 10 years + a contested marking beast everywhere but somewhere near our forward 50. I wouldn’t agree but we will have to go with Horse, given that he picks the team and sets the game plan and all.
Cats back 6 still as solid as ever Enright, Mackie, Rivers, Lonergan, Taylor but they have slotted Murdoch in nicely. Murdoch can be a damaging kick but for mine still plays a bit gun shy with his kicking, if he pulls the trigger more often he will tear us a new one, especially if he starts kicking long to Hawkins.
With our penchant for u11’s like structure Cats back 6 will most likely rotate off Buddy & Tippo. If we are going to play the bastardised slingshot Geelong is as good a team as any to try it against because their back 6 are not lightning quick. If Rohan is fit and picked 90% chance we will play nobody in the forward line and try our luck at the slingshot.

Harfd to tell how our backline will line up against their forwards except maybe Grundy will play on Hawkins given Ted’s penchant for getting rag dolled this year. Kersten shouldn’t present too many problems, will probably get Rampe so that we can use Rampe as an attacking half back. Taylor hasn’t been in great form this year (IMO) so we will probably see him play forward given our structure and given that the Cats could try to stretch us down back. Cats midfielders (including Blicavs) all kick goals so our mids will have to have their 2 way running boots on.

Wouldn’t mind seeing someone (Mitchell) given a run with role against Duncan, who had a huge game against us last time. Duncan hasn’t been as hot as he was prior to getting injured but he has been back long enough now to find some form, as the Cats always seem to do against us.
They will probably send Caddy to JPK, but we all know JPK performs each week, he actually knows what un-Swans like really means.
Stevie J found some form recently so we will need to find someone to mind him. Plays all over the ground so it might not be a bad idea to send Kizza to him as throwback to his tagging days, both play the same kind of roaming role.

Then we need to worry about Selwood and Guthrie and whoever else they rotate through the midfield. Parker head to head with Selwood?

The ruck dual won’t be as interesting as last time, when the sneaky little Cats tried to pull that 2 ruckman at every stoppage swifty on us. Blicavs has become less effective since Stanley went down but still one of the players we need to watch.

Cats like to handball almost as much as us. Surprising clearances and contested possessions aren’t a big feature of their game. Clearly they rely on contested marks especially in forward 50. One thing they do like to do is take a risk and kick the ball into the corridor, even to a 1-on-1.

Our outside run (Jetta, Harry, Lloyd) should find plenty of open space at Skilled but as always we will only be as successful as our forward 50 entries, which are horrible. Bartel, Enright and Kelly hold the key for the Cats, if they fire up we generally lose because they will take the game on and go through the corridor, something we have been powerless to stop this year. If Tomahawk starts getting the ball 1-on-1 we won’t be able to stop him. They will probably bring Stokes back just to make it even more difficult to stop their run from half back.

What’s wrong with the Swans in 2015?

In short, we are butchering it, aren’t marking it anywhere near enough in our forward 50 (memo John Longmore) and not doing the hard stuff (1%).

If we do those 3 things then we should win comfortably.

Last time we met the Cats had the better of most of the game then, like we have done the whole year, we stepped up our skills in the last and blew the game open. Last week against an insipid Adelaide we got back on track, this week Geelong in Geelong will give us another indication if we have turned the corner and are heading back in the right direction. If yes, Swans by 10 goals, if no Cats will do to us the same thing they have done to us at Skilled for as long as most of us can remember.

Buddy shouldnt play if he cant move properly

Why run one the leagues biggest match winners into the ground in year 2 of a 9 year deal

Should be good enough to beat the Cats without him

They are a harder team to beat at Geelong though

Out:bjack, buddy

If franklin is not 100% fit, he shouldnt play. Do not want to be messing round with backs this close to september
Jack was better than Jones last week, why should they be swapped?
