My concern is we, apart from Lynch (Who is always out injured anyhow), we don’t have a player that’s willing to put the rest of the boys on his back and just will us back into the contest. Even if it’s to arrest momentum for five minutes. Cotchin was the absolute god at this. And god I miss him.

If Short stays in the side it can't be in the backline, he's a liability back there. Give him a run forward.

Play Bauer forward in the VFL then AFL next week. With Ryan.

Cumbo stays in and let him up the ground a bit - by far looked our most dangerous forward after Lefau.

Young - in the bin after last nights performance, replace him with Balta or Bauer if fit

Mcauliffe - actually looks like a midfielder. One brain fade but can tell he’s got what it takes

Green -got a similar amount of the ball in the firsts as he does in the seconds. Got a real long way to go

Pickett on the angry pills and gave away a quarter of our frees last night. Not sure what was going on there

The 50 against Rioli was the lamest 50 I can ever remember seeing. ****ing terrible

We have no small forward who can finish - mansell is tough and gets a bit of it. But sprays it almost every time - heartbreaking to watch

Yze looked like he was about to cry in the last quarter.

The biggest disappointment are some of the senior players who are letting down the young kids.
You have Short who is giving us absolutely nothing. 15 disposals (3 of those kick-ins) and only 1 contested possession and 3 pressure acts last night.
Then you've got Vlastuin who is one of the more undisciplined players going around. Either by frustration or just carelessness always tackles head-high and last night sending a gut punch for a free kick, it's stuff like this which adds to our abysmal free kick differential. Some of it is just own goal stuff.
Our tall defensive units are just not AFL standard. I don't see Miller and Young's potential ceiling being very high, they're both very safe and don't take the game on or have the footy IQ to go off their man to intercept, which every successful team has (your Tom Stewarts, Levers/May, Andrews etc...). This used to be Rance and potentially Balta but Balta made way too many stupid mistakes back there that turned into a liability.
We just need young high end talent from everywhere on the ground.

The bright spot last night was seeing Mcauliffe get another full game under his belt and getting to the right spots to get the ball. Hopefully he learnt a few things playing against Brisbane's midfield.

He’s played some okay games. He’s fine when grimes and broad can do the hard jobs and give him some direction but left to his own devices he’s not ready. Possibly never will be either.

No tall talent on the list so Tyler Young it is. Shit timing for Trezise to be injured as he’d be a walk up start. I’m hoping Bauer makes a fist of it in defence today, as I think young needs a mental break. Can’t be easy defending behind the leagues worst midfield.

Nasmith Kosi and Ryan both got a run in Ground zero and all poor. Ryan subbed off at half time. The team improved massively after that. Kosi not much better.

Round 1 Nank & Lynch replaced them. Ryan was not great in the preseason, still skinny framed. Naismith not great when he got further chances.

Kosi was a fringe KPP who looks like a bust.
I'd have had Ryan off the bench.

Ideally shoudda got a quality KPF to replace Jack R. We tried but couldn't get anyone and I think that's the philosophy behind Balta KPF. He's our 2nd best KPP, hoping to that the forward penny drops soon.

So no coaches?

Take a deep breath, we’ve got 17 injured players including most of our best midfield and talls. We literally have a single key forward on the list and he got injured straight away. No coach is getting anything out of this squad.

IF Gibcus weren't unavailable sure drop the KPDs on form. Grimes has to come in for someone, maybe a tall.
