Season 36, Round 16.

August the 6th, 2023 saw the opening of the 36th season of Sweet F.A, and it’s been an adventure since with threads spammed, games won, drama unfolded and plenty of penalty points given way.

Now, to stay in the hunt for the premiership, teams must Qooty to Survive.

A recap on the path to a premiership so far.

Just four wins in season 35 meant that the Sin City Swamprats needed to be better in the 36th season and it didn’t start well. By the end of round five they were 4-1 and sitting last.

A Rough Start:

It was a tough start to the season with a 60-point loss to a struggling Mount Buller Demons outfit and it was made even worse when the Baghdad Bombers were 29 point winners against the Swamprats in round two.
Another loss in round four against the Dragons by 13 points and yet again in round five to the Coney Island Warriors but this time by 68 points had the Sin City Swamprats pasted in the dictionary under “disappointing”.
The diamond in the rough during this period was a five point win against the East Side Phoenix with a captains game coming from jackster83, who was able to put together 25 disposals and a goal.

The Climb Back:

How does a team climb its way out of the bottom of the ladder? Winning.
The Swamprats began to do just that and many believe that it was an inspiring game from outgoing admin Kennedy Parker who put together a 15 hit-out, 26 disposals, and two goal match to bang through a 48 point victory against the Roys.
Round seven was another victory, this time against the Gold City Royals by 32 points followed by victories against the Las Vegas Bears, Ophidian Old Boys, and Fighting Furies to send the Swamprats from last on the ladder to third on the ladder.

Running it Home:

Back-to-back losses against the West Coast Wonders and Gumbies wasn’t what the Swamprats needed to lock in finals. However, they were able to win a close one against the Roys in round 14 and that was just enough to clinch them a finals spot but a win is still necessary this week as they can find themselves anywhere from a top four finish to a home or away elimination final come week one of finals.

Redemption. That is what is on the Coney Island Warriors mind after a preliminary final exit in the season prior and although it started off with a 38 point loss against the Roys, it started to turn around very quickly.

Back On Track:

Round two was a good weekend for the Warriors and especially The Filth Wizard as he took an early claim to the Fred medal with a five goal haul, but not only that the Warriors were on the winning list with a dazzling 13 point victory against the East Side Phoenix.
Round three and five followed with big wins by over sixty points against the Las Vegas Bears and the Sin City Swamprats and The Filth Wizard found himself on the end of another 14 goals including a 12 goal display in the latter round. It was clear from this point that the Warriors and The Filth Wizard were going to be powerful this season.
A slim win against the Gold City Royals continued the streak and another blow out by 73 points against the Furies scared the opposition analysts into having to start to put some serious work into this team.
By the end of Round seven, The Warriors had claim on top spot.

Dark Days:

The modern game causes a need for a modern solution, and these days the opposition analysts around the Sweet F.A know how to put some serious work into teams. The first sign of the fall of the Warriors came in round eight against the West Coast Wonders who were able to knock them off by 23 points but it wasn’t a heavy enough knock to see the king fall off the throne and an 18 point win against the Bombers next week caused no worry for Coney Island insiders.
A loss in round ten against the Mount Buller Demons might have though if the Warriors didn’t come out the next week and defeat the Gumbies by 102 points.
Since then there have been worries around the league with the Warriors now on a three game loss streak. They’ve dropped games to the Dragons, Old Boys, and Royals in a consecutive order.

Today:

Although the Coney Island Warriors can’t be knocked out of finals contention this week, there has been some real worries about their form heading into an important finals campaign or is the leadership team just managing their stars?

This game is important for one player though, The Filth Wizard who needs to have a fantastic performance to claim the Fred Medal for the second time.

Hi Swampies!

I'm going to assume your victory given the sim acting like a scorned mistress lately.

Let's at least help get The Filth Wizard the Fred medal Wazza's.

Brilliant work, AUR. :thumbsu:

Happy final home-and-away match everybody. After three home games on the trot and nothing to show for it, I think we're all looking forward to an away trip to the underground stadium this week.
Let's get this show on the road!

He played himself into some serious form when we met earlier so fingers crossed! Will he be able to exploit the same match-up again? Will they double-team him? Will the sim confuse him with okey and throw him down the backline for the lols?

I couldn't imagine a sweeter (pardon the pun) feeling than winning the Fred playing against the second greatest forward of all time okeydoke7 .

Please and thankyou oh master Sim.
