Clarke was a pre-season elevation.

Michael was elevated for Beams.

And yes, Wrigley is a rookie.

Not sure when the mid-season window closes...

Honest I don't think we need Black as much anymore. With Moloney coming in that takes up an inside midfield spot already. Black playing on would just take the spot of guys like Lester (let him develop as a big inside midfielder), Green (who could be a L.Power type) and Docherty (I see him moving to the midfield eventually).

I posted elswhere but the handball in traffic under pressure to Mayes in space for a goal, encapsulates the way I will remember Black. It's a heady week seeing three of your all time fav's bowing out in indifferent fashion. Despite my misgivings I still want to get to the Cattery to say goodbye, because I'm pretty confident that this is it.
 
Not sure how keen I am for Black to go on next season. His body has really let him down this year and I struggle to see how that's going to improve with yet another year. Also think that in his absence, Rocky, Rich and Reddo really stood up and took control of the midfield and that's what we need. With him, Moloney and potentially Raines all taking midfield spots next year, we'd be robbing another player the development in there that he may need.

Little I hate more than those who just want to play the kids, and I love Blacky as much as anyone, but just think that while he could play on it probably wouldn't be best for the team long term if he did. Well aware that I'm likely alone in this opinion though.

Nope. I tend to agree. Body is certainly letting him down, his form is still as good as any in our midfield though. It seems that when one of Moloney/Black or both are playing, it seems to have an affect on one of the younger blokes.

I'd love him as a super sub though. :p
 
It depends. He seems to think that his injuries this year have been caused by a lack of a pre-season. If that holds water and his body is now ok'ish, then it may be a risk worth taking.

I also don't buy the argument that he is stifling other players' development. For every inside player who has less midfield time, there is an outside player getting the benefit of the service he provides. Moreover, competition for spots is never a bad thing. The younger players should earn their spot. I don't think Black would mind playing off half forward if a younger player takes his midfield spot. The fact is that Black is still one of our best 2 or 3 inside mids. Until that changes, then I think we should welcome him wanting to play another year.

Worst case scenario- make him sub & even if he plays the last 5mins, he'll get one helluva roar of thanks from the crowd!
