The first situation is better leverage for the club under contract. The 2nd is not as good leverage wise as club pushes them out reduces return value. They may have to accept a Sydney 1st around 11-13 and still be ok with that by pushing him out the door

I think if he goes they are more inclined to trade pick 1 to get in a position for Curtin and a bounty

Pick 1 for 2, 5 and J Sharp

Then have pick 2 live on draft night and see if they can keep moving back a pick for Curtin

Ie pick 2 to Hawks for pick 3 and 2nd tied to Dogs
