With all the discussion about old guys at Geelong I thought Id see how many old guys are holding up top four teams.
Eagles only have priddis, but here are 6 hawks, 7 dockers and 6 swans who will play a significant part in this years finals

Hodge Hale McVeigh
Burgoyne Pavlich Goodes
Sandilands Mundy McGlynn

We were meant to tumble out of the 4 this year with the demise of Pav, Sandi and McPharlin. All three still playing pretty reasonable footy, the latter two should go another year at least. Sandilands especially is as good as ever.

To become an old player in the AFL you have to be pretty bloody good. Makes sense that the older teams generally make up the top 8.

Definitely. His form has really improved in the last few weeks. If he gets his knee right he is 100% in the Swans best 22.

Sandilands is one of those players who could go for a long time until soft tissue injuries get him.

He is not relying on pace and probably wont start getting noticeably smaller until his 50's or 60's

I'd be interested to see how an All Australian over 31 team would go against an All Australian under 21 team. It would be very interesting to see who won.

McGlynn is a stretch as well given he's hardly played this year and doubtful for finals.

Interesting thread though- these are the sort of players that you know what you'll get in the bigger games for the most part.
