Fans of the Melbourne Football Club are thrilled at the announcement that key defender Steven May has signed a two-year contract extension with the Dees, which will see him remain with the club until the end of 2025.

May joined the club in late 2018 and has since become an integral part of the back six, playing 70 games and leading with his exceptional defensive skills. He has been named as an All-Australian player for the past two seasons and was recognized for his efforts with a third-place finish in the club’s best and fairest award in 2022 and a runner-up trophy in 2020.

Tim Lamb, the Melbourne List Manager, spoke about the club’s excitement to extend May’s contract, saying “We are extremely happy that we have been able to extend Steven’s contract for a further two years. Steven is an incredible asset for us. He has become a key pillar of our team structure and, with his high-level footy IQ, is continuing to push his own boundaries while helping develop those around him. We look forward to what Steven can bring to the team over these next three seasons.”

May’s football journey started eight years ago when he was first drafted to the Gold Coast SUNS, and since then he has played 193 senior games. This season will mark his 13th year at the top level. As a proud Larrakia man, May has been a valuable addition to the club and we are excited to see what he will bring to the field over the next three seasons.
