I don’t see how people are hating this decision
At his best he will kick us 30 goals, if it doesn’t work he will get delisted after a year and that’s fine
We as a club take punts on players all the time with no football background and we have taken a chance that could be the difference come the pointy end.

A forward line of
Kelly, Crameri, Menzel
Cockatoo, Hawkins, Parfitt/Fogarty
With rotations of Ablett, Dangefield
And Depth of Parsons, McCarthy, Gregson and Buzza is something we have been screaming out for years.
Our forward line depth in recent years would be close to the worst in the competition, now on paper we have one of the strongest.

Welcome to Geelong Crameri

To go with Hawkins, Stanley, Buzza, Ratugola, House, Menzel, Black
I should have said ready made depth. I'm not convinced Stanley could stand up and be a consistent goal kicker should Hawkins go down ... Nor am I with Black or Buzza.

Crameri has at least proven he can kick goals. He'll be a handy depth player. He may even force his way into the side and become a role player.

I wasn't a fan when this was raised earlier during trade period but I warmed to it particularly after the players we selected in the draft. Having a bigger selection of small forwards to choose from and the fact the club has selected specialist small forwards gives me hope we will have 2-4 in the team each week. With Hawkins, Crameri and Menzel and 3 pressure smalls that's a good mix up forward. We will have the best midfield and a very good backline it's important we have the forwards to kick goals. Danger and Ablett will obviously spend time there as well but this selection adds good depth.
His injury history and missing basically the last 2 years is a major issue but that's why he's on the rookie list and wasn't traded for. I am a big fan of Buzza and still excited to see him develop but hopefully Crameri plays a role for a year or 2 while he's developing.

189 cm... we just draft a mid with more height than that.
He plays a lot taller than what his height indicates. Some players do.

Clubs thought this rookie draft was very thin. Look at how many mature players got selected.

Not sure that’s the correct inference. It could also be that they decided not to take a punt on a rough 18 year old now that rookies don’t have to be upgraded to play. Could be a combination of both. Could be neither.

It's a rookie draft pick and he'll be as there as back-up most likely.

If we burned a ND pick on him or traded for him, then fair enough, but it's a rookie draft pick. He's the second last man on the list, but is someone who is proven at AFL level and could do a job if required.

For the minimal cost, you can't complain.

Oh but they are, and it's the usual few of course.
I know, colour me surprised too.
