Stop being so pessimistic Dave - glass half full mate! :)
If we can keep Lambert & Brazill (Molloy has re-signed it seems) as well as our top draftees from last year then I’d say that’s pretty good.
Heppell’s started the season well but he is no Scott Pendlebury - decision making and disposal quality put Pendles clearly ahead there.
Merrett’s probably been better than Sidey in recent years but on last week’s form they’re pretty even.
Treloar’s also clearly better than Smith I’d say...
You underestimate us :p
But as mentioned Murray is a running defender. We did however bring in Appleby who is more a KPD and drafted McLarty last year (KPD) and are moving Goldsack out of the backline (played whole last year as a KPD) so you’re not far off.
Also, I’m pretty sure Moore played...
Crikey mate, what's wrong with you? I don't post here much but I do read a lot, and I love my Pies like we all do. But most times I come on here there is a new 'Roast' thread and odds are that it's you who has started it.
Please try to bite your lip a bit and suck it up sometimes, or at least...
You need to watch more footy, TD. Edwards is a fantastic player these days and plays his role very well. Makes things happen and sets up a lot. Deledio the same and he's been that way for a decade. Rance also been arguably the best key defender in the league for the past two years.
Pies will...
On the Treloar status:
Balme mentioned OP, but given he claimed to have been managing an ongoing groin issue last season, it was expected to be OP anyway.
OP, or similar ailments, take a long time to fix. You need a period of no running on it to allow the inflammation to go down. I've had OP...
That's pretty spot on I reckon. Seems pretty likely that one of Fas/Howe/Elliott doesn't fit in. I know the Pies said they see Howe as a tall winger/3rd-fwd (Karnezis anyone?), but with so many mids it's pretty hard to see Howe taking a midfielder's spot in the team.
Cloke's accuracy has actually become pretty good - has gone at 56%-62% accuracy for each of the last five years.
The last time he went at below 50%, we won the flag o_O
That's a good point.
It's also to provide leverage to players who are out of contract. If PSD is removed then out of contract players will be forced into the National Draft.
Good to see we can still rely on you for a rash, sweeping statement, mate ;)
Any thoughts on why it exists and why those reasons are no longer valid/how they can be replaced through other means?
You would back the Collingwood Team of the Century to beat that AFL team any day ;)
Great post on Syd Coventry by the way, I must admit I didn't know enough about him. Definitely a Collingwood great!
That's a fair call (on expectations after good start). I haven't watched him back when he was in VFL, how was his disposal then? (if you know) Assume he'd be a bit more comfortable and have a bit more time in VFL so curious if it's better there.
Ok, had a crack at our Best 22 and gee it's tough, lots of guys I left out could be switched with guys I put in.
Looking at the teams we picked in 2015, we tended to go with 7 backs (2 KPDs, 1-2 mid def, 3-4 small def/running defs), 5 marking fwds, 9 mids including 2-3 who rotate up fwd & put...
