    Player Watch Charlie West

For West, yes but not the team. Even against the Eagles, going in with West as a key part of our forward line was too big a risk to take unless forced. He was given a taste of senior footy with enough experience around him that even if he had a shocker it shouldn't have risked a loss. I think...

    Training Pre-season training updates 2026.

Darcy Moore is 29. Let's pretend he's up there with the 35+ players.

With an extra man on the bench it's definitely possible to do this against bottom teams. Obviously would need to add him to the list. Wouldn't happen, but I don't know of any rule against it or of any means for denying eligibility at the league's discretion.

Player Watch Welcome to Collingwood Angus Anderson

With the draft thinning out, going with a mature age mid who's physically ready to play is not a bad option. Welcome Angus!

List Mgmt. 2025 AFL Draft - November 19-20. Rookie draft: November 21.

Well, we did take another. Bit odd.

That's us done. Good outcome to bring in three players. Expecting we take at least one of Sax and Tom as rookies. Definitely hoping for Tom (assuming he's not picked), both would be nice.

List Mgmt. 2025 AFL Draft - November 19-20. Rookie draft: November 21.

Doubt it ever happened much (or at all), but with the increased rate of declined matches, there won't be any clubs bidding on a player unless they're fully prepared to take them. With the stricter matching rules clubs are going to have definite limits on where they'd match, it can no longer be...

List Mgmt. 2025 AFL Draft - November 19-20. Rookie draft: November 21.

It's literally not possible for our draft to be "top 6" important, we don't have the picks.

List Mgmt. 2025 AFL Draft - November 19-20. Rookie draft: November 21.

Why would he want to come to us in 2/3 years when we passed on him in the draft? Isn't he more likely to stick with the team that showed faith in him? We may set limits on where we match for a player, but it won't be with the idea that we can trade for them in 2/3 years, that's not very likely.

Player Watch Mason Cox (Delisted 2025)

It would be easy to find a mature backup that could provide more value than Cox. Whether our younger options are ready to step up is something we'll see. Sorry to see the end of Cox's career at Collingwood because of what it has meant to the club. On 2025 form and his age, it's time to move on...

    Player Watch Noah Howes

For retention: Our tall forward backup is West (assuming Buller starts), Howes and then... options that would need a real leap in 2026 to be relevant. Howes while young is physically up to playing at senior level. Against retention: we'll be signing McCarthy and will need a forward spot for him...

Player Watch Mason Cox (Delisted 2025)

Sorry to see Mason go, he's been awesome for the club. It's the right time though. We have young ruck options, but we also have the option of signing a mature backup. I don't think Mason was all that capable of providing value as first ruck backup anymore and his forward work was no longer AFL...

    List Mgmt. 2025 Trade/FA Thread (Cont’d)

Agree fully that there's no obligation. To be clear I never said Collingwood or any club should sign him, just that we should assess the situation. I don't know enough about Thomas and how he's gone about things in the past two years to have a solid opinion on whether he's earned another...

Player Watch Mason Cox (Delisted 2025)

An extraordinary career against all odds, it's hard to over estimate what Mason has achieved. Off the field, he's also one of the most interesting players to listen to, hope he stays around the game in some capacity.

    List Mgmt. 2025 Trade/FA Thread (Cont’d)

I'm not saying any particular player has to be allowed to play. Talking generally, an absolute stance is almost never helpful, there are degrees of offending and context to be considered. As an example: I feel the AFL and Richmond got the Balta case wrong, but there are a number of other players...
