It’s really disappointing to be playing Sonsie in the twos. You looks at someone like Jake Soligo at Adelaide who was only a couple of draft picks before Tyler and is getting plenty of opportunities. Not getting games into these kids will cost us down the track.

If your club has a need for a player of his type and see him as a key piece that could potentially get your club fighting for top 4 then I would say haggling over a few draft spots isn’t going to be an issue. You’ll be giving up a pretty high pick (or possibly two late firsts) if he chooses to...

Can I pick the month?

One of the most versatile players in the competition, great leadership and two time premiership player already. Also with two teams fighting for him… I would be asking for 2 x FRP. Personally I think his value is on par with what Tarantos was.

Is he more valuable than what Taranto was when we traded for him? Is he more valuable then Hopper? Two teams fighting for him, we’re not under salary cap pressure. We want to keep him.

We paid pick 12 and 31 for hopper and picks 12 and 19 for Taranto… BUT it’s accepted around here that we will just take a mid teens pick for baker?

I would say Richmond will play hard ball with baker. With both west coast and Freo strongly interested I can see them asking for two first round picks. Something similar to the Taranto deal.

Both west coast and Fremantle fighting over baker is only going to increase his trade value. I can see Richmond asking for two of Fremantles first round picks.

Only difference I guess is that GWS we’re under salary cap pressure apparently. But it looks to have worked out well for them.

It probably isn’t realistic but the point remains that clubs in Richmond’s position with one of the oldest lists in the league and now also one of the least talented…are going to have to get extremely creative during the off season over the next 3-4 seasons to not be left behind.

Going to be very interesting how teams handle their “future” picks in the year before Tasmania come into the league. Future picks may be pretty worthless in 2027
