Oppo Camp Other Clubs News/General Discussion (Part 2)

I suspect you're right regarding Essendon's intentions, however maybe Essendon sought to push Scott out so as not to leave Carlton with a free run at anyone, which in some way has some merit or a semblance of rationality if they knew Scott wasn't the future. Sheedy, Hird and their supporters...

Schache was a former number 2 pick for Brisbane who was traded to the Dogs for picks 25 and 40. Schache played 27 games with Brisbane; Walter has played 35 for Gold Coast. Although the trade was in 2017, presumably it would provide at least some kind of guide or measuring stick for a potential...

    Mid Season Draft

I'm not sure what people's fixation on Mason Cox is. Yes, he can pinch hit in the ruck, and he gave us great service, but ruck is not an area that we're particularly weak in from an experience perspective. If Cameron goes down, we throw the keys to Smit with nothing to lose. To me the time to...

That's my point. There doesn't seem to be anyone at the moment who is being kept out by him.

I agree. To me he has earnt the right to determine when time is called. Particularly given where the list appears to be at, as it doesn't seem to me as if Pendles playing on would prevent us from achieving something significant.

How does acquiring an unrestricted free agent reek of us missing out on all our targets? There's a world in which we could acquire Butters/Bailey/Humphrey and add Neale on top, provided the money can be managed. Neale is a dual-premiership player and Brownlow medallist with 4 All-Australian...

I think you've answered your own question. He's not classy enough for our list, but plays a role for Freo. He's also 29 and his stats this season are, largely, down on his career averages. Career-wise his best statistic is tackling, so a team is likely getting another Schultz, which is...

    2026 Trade / FA Thread

I'm not sure what the relevance of the mid-season draft is to Switkowski. By all means recruit a small forward via the mid-season draft. Don't however chase Switkowski when there are other areas of need and other free agents out there capable of filling those needs.

Sure. But the point is there are plenty putting their hands up for the same position, all with varying levels of development. In my view there are other needs that need to be addressed before adding another small forward.

With Hill (fingers crossed), Schultz, Hayes, Harrison and Saxena I'm not sure that there's a strong justification for the acquisition.

    Review Round 8 = Collingwood 93-93 Hawthorn

That's accurate, for now. They seem to have played in patches though, which would be my biggest concern if I was a Hawthorn fan. They were belted by an undermanned GWS (Opening Round is notoriously difficult), however the remainder of their opponents (bar Sydney and Gold Coast) have all been...

    Review Round 8 = Collingwood 93-93 Hawthorn

I'm not sure that Anderson's 8 disposals and 3 tackles last night were of greater value than Long's 22 disposals and 9 tackles. Where did I say I would drop other players before Long? He played last night and Pendles and Beau didn't. Next week is a pretty easy decision for me - Pendles in for...

    Review Round 8 = Collingwood 93-93 Hawthorn

Many of the comments to me are venting, which is understandable. The constant attacks on Long however are bemusing. He has played 44 games of AFL and, at worst, will be a depth player. Without providing an alternative, criticisms of him are somewhat hollow. I think we'll be in a good...

    Review Round 8 = Collingwood 93-93 Hawthorn

Some thoughts/observations: High intensity game with skill errors from both sides. Some were consequential, others not. Our boys' ability to keep their noses in front for the majority of the contest was the most pleasing thing for me, particularly late in the third and early in the fourth...
