The French Open officially begins today with the qualification period commencing.

The main draw begins this coming Sunday the 24th of May.

On the ATP side, you'd have to expect Sinner to be right at the pointy end of the tournament. I'd also be very surprised if Zverev doesn't go deep into the second week.

For the WTA, Swiatek has been the queen of clay. She's had a pretty ordinary 6 months by her lofty standards though. Sabalenka perhaps? Svitolina and Muchova have won two of the lead up tournaments. Could be more open than expected.

He hasn't won the French Open yet, Nadal won 14.

Also, Carlos won the last two GS, so it's not "all the titles".

Tomic being the only winner last night out of the Aussies in qualies, might be a sign that we might not get too many wins these next couple of weeks.....

Hard to see how Sinner doesn't win with Alcaraz out injured. He probably deserves a career grand slam, so I won't be upset if he does, but I'm not expecting it to be the most exciting RG of all time.

He's the overwhelming favorite, but anything can still happen.

Also, there's a heap of good young players coming up. The level of tennis is as good as it's ever been in history, just that the top two or three are way ahead at the moment.

Kasatkina has made it to a qualifying final at Strasbourg from qaulies she's running into a little good patch of form leading into the French Open I'm happy for her.

Got to see the Zverev first set. Linette was down to one knee but rallied to knock out Tereza.
