Biffy Clyro - The Most Underrated Band of All Time!!!!

Really enjoyed last night too. Was my first time seeing Biffy as i've frustratingly been out of the country the last 2 times they've toured. Killer set and their energy was awesome from go to woah. Was also pleasantly surprised at how well the new songs translated considering the amount of...

    Soundgarden Are Back

Apparently, the 2 audio clips in this link are from the show. Interesting the very small number of tunes from SuperUnknown, which is certainly their most successful and widely regarded as their best album (not my opinion fwiw) on that set list.

It has to be said that Cornell's voice was never the same after he had treatment for nodules on his throat in 1995. I can recall the shows they did in Oz in 97 and he sounded like he was really struggling even back then. That said, i was blown away by him when he toured a couple of year's...

Biffy Clyro - The Most Underrated Band of All Time!!!!

Its definitely vying for my fav release of 09. Gets better with every listen and just has no dud moments on it IMO. Still really intelligent song writing and typically interesting arrangements while never sounding like its trying to do too much on any tunes, yet at the same time they have...

Roogene LIVE on sen now, and for the next 45 minutes.

Worth noting that Mulkearns (who is a former school teacher of mine) has previously worked at North in the same capacity under Pagan, and then followed him to Carlton.

John Mayer - where to begin?

I have his live Trio album, but admittedly thats only because Steve Jordan, who is possibly the funkiest drummer to ever walk the planet, plays on it, with Pino Paladino delighting on bass duties. As an album its a reasonably good listen. Mayer can play, but tunes wise i really can take or...

    Soundgarden

For those who havent heard it, buy/Download their tune "Birth Ritual" off the Singles soundtrack. Cornell's vocal performance on that tune is insane and the riff just doesnt give up.

Badmotorfinger changed my life and still makes me feel great things whenever i listen to it. Superunknown has aged a little bit for me. I dunno if its because i've listened to it so much, but i cant really get much more out of it, while i probably listen to Down on The Upside more than any of...

    decent bands...rubbish drummers

In that one bolded line you've said what i've taken a silly amount of words to try and communicate. Just about any half decent drummer can play your elementary beat (kick on the one, snare one the three). Its just about the most basic thing you can do behind a drum kit. But to make it...

    decent bands...rubbish drummers

One album i reckon i'd have gotten into a whole lot more with a more creative and accomplished player is the Mad Season album. The tunes are great and anything with Layne Staley singing on it deserves a listen, but i just never felt that drummers playing and sadly it lets it down for me.

    decent bands...rubbish drummers

You still havent answered whether or not you're a drummer. With a comment like "Ringo's groove and feel wasn't anything special" i'm leaning towards doubting it. I'm not going to turn this into a "i know more than you do" thing as its your opinion and you're entitled to it. But i cant...

    decent bands...rubbish drummers

Possibly, but the thing that you and anyone else who bags Ringo can clearly never get is how amazing his feel was. Drumming isn't always about dexterity of limbs or how many notes one can fit into a bar of music. I'm not sure if you're a player yourself, but i really struggle to comprehend...

Alice in Chains ... Have they put the arguement to bed ?

Its grown on me a little more since i posted last, but i wouldnt say its reached great heights for me. While their last handful of albums have been patchy, its been the moments where they've gone in unexpected directions (like You Are off Riot Act for example) where i've had my interested...

Alice in Chains ... Have they put the arguement to bed ?

I dunno if the older i get the smaller my concentration span gets, but i just cant pin this album down mate. Its all over the bloody place!! The playing is never the doubt for me with this band and i'm always keen to grab anything they play on individually or collectively, but this one just...

Alice in Chains ... Have they put the arguement to bed ?

Top post Haggis. I'm not going to repeat your sentiments because you summed them up really well, other than to cast serious doubts over anyone who calls themselves an AIC fan but cant acknowledge Degredation Trip as a great album. Anyway, I havent listened to an album as much as i have...
