AFL Player 7: Indefatigable Zach Merrett (c) Wins 6th Crichton Medal - Congratulations Zach

Yeah if he is actually still weighing up whether to seek a trade then he needs to decide asap before the relationship with Essendon becomes irreparable, if it isn’t already

AFL Player 7: Indefatigable Zach Merrett (c) Wins 6th Crichton Medal - Congratulations Zach

Merrett wouldn’t shut it down if he is actually still weighing his options. But a good captain wouldn’t drag his club through the mud like this. Agree it’s very suspicious that his team is leaking. Mitchell could be the one leaking, but that wouldn’t endear himself to Merrett.

AFL Player 7: Indefatigable Zach Merrett (c) Wins 6th Crichton Medal - Congratulations Zach

If he is legitimately weighing his options I don’t think he would shut it down

AFL Player 7: Indefatigable Zach Merrett (c) Wins 6th Crichton Medal - Congratulations Zach

There is a good chance Zach just met with Mitchell to assess his options, rather than going nuclear. The optics are bad but he is famous for leaving no stone unturned. As far as I know the only facts are: 1. On 2nd Sept Barrett said “But the biggest problem for Essendon is the continued...

AFL Player 1: Andrew "Pidge" McGrath (c) - 42nd Captain of the Essendon Football Club

He’s good at lockdown defending and winning the contest, then breaking out of congestion on foot. But I hold my breath whenever he disposes of it. I feel like he’s more likely to be penalised for deliberate out of bounds than kick to the advantage of a contested marking target. He is our worst...

Hot Topic Harley Reid v Draft - Win-win?

If we bring in Reid he is just one elite player but we need more. We should risk the draft post dodo

    AFL Player 10: Isaac Kako - Re-signed to 2029, then did a hammy, 4 weeks - 13/2

He is so evasive, twisting and turning he ties the defenders in knots then hits targets with good vision and foot skills

Are Carlton on the verge of greatness?

As far as I can tell they have the lowest percentage of a team 2nd on the ladder after Rd 14 since Hawthorne in 2001 (106.9%)

Are Carlton on the verge of greatness?

So is this the part where we ridicule Carlton for having the worst percentage ever for a team second on the ladder after rd 14?

Who is the best mark of the ball ever?

John Coleman “He would sprint into a space and mark or he would somehow spring “Phoenix” like, head and shoulders above these perplexed backmen to mark. And it used to happen four or five times a game. This great champion footballer was unstoppable taking spectacular mark after spectacular mark...

General Bombers Talk Questions and discussions that don't warrant a thread

Has anyone else noticed that if you search for "Essendon" in the google news tab it keeps coming up with this ABC article? "Carlton beat Essendon by 26 points on Bombers' big night as Blues move back into top four" Usually you have to scroll through a few pages of results to go back 4 weeks...

    Retired #21: Dyson Heppell - Goodnight, sweet prince. What a legend! 🤙 - 24/8

Fair call. Although apparently he doesn’t deserve to play in the first place so I reckon it cancels out. Hurley is stiff tho!

    Retired #21: Dyson Heppell - Goodnight, sweet prince. What a legend! 🤙 - 24/8

Even so, the fact remains that no one deserves a win more than him lol

    Retired #21: Dyson Heppell - Goodnight, sweet prince. What a legend! 🤙 - 24/8

I just watched Hep on AFL 360. Poor bloke has played and lost 4 elimination finals. I reckon that along with what he went through with asada and being suspended and being the heart and soul of the club, no player deserves a win this weekend more than him

Autopsy AFL 2021 Round 23 - Bombers v Pies Sun August 22nd 3:20pm EST (MCG)

“The Pies tried hard throughout and even looked the better side at times, but were ultimately outclassed by their more experienced opponents as they slumped to a 16th loss for the season.” afl.com.au Am I missing something here?
