It's too many cooks for me also. If Almeida is happy being a full-time dom then fair enough but there is zero evidence to suggest he's willing to do that.
The numbers game I find a bit overrated also. It's worked on what, 2 TdF stages in the last 25 years? (08 Alpe D'Huez and 22 Galibier). UAE...
This still isn't clear to me. So Plapp's track dream being over means Jayco can now offer big money? or Plapp's track dream being over means he wants leadership on the road which INEOS can't provide?
I think this is a bit harsh on Vingegaard. He crashed in the month before Avenir so it wasn't reflective of his best. His improvement was also linear each year and coincided with him taking up cycling full-time, and as early as 2019 itzulia was showing he was at a high level:

Ayuso got a way higher ceiling, beat Almeida last year and has beaten him both climbs this year. Probably has a better TT also.
They closed him very quickly on Arinsal.
I disagree. I think they absolutely would've taken getting 32 seconds on Remco on a profile that was hard without being super difficult, and the break was big enough that Kuss' day wouldn't have been that much harder than if he was in the pelo.
They also showed Quick Step can't control, and...
Yep. It's why thoughts of Pog making huge attacks last night were always fanciful. There is a clear template for how Jonas and Jumbo can defeat Pog. The fact is Jonas is just clearly better when the pace is high on huge mountain stages, particularly at high altitude:
Ventoux 2021
Grannon 2022...
I don't think Jonas lost time for over-extending on the Hindley stage. I think he lost time the next day because he wanted to completely end Pog, and as a result did too much work in sections that still had significant draft benefit. Think Pog's best chance is for it to be as easy as possible...
Assuming no crashes or illness for the top guys then Hindley is no chance. Vingegaard on another level. But Hindley's clear favourite for third and you never know what happens over 3 weeks.
Once you rule out GC focused teams and those that are happy with their current sprinter I'm not sure there are that many options.
I don't feel sorry for Lotto given they've been aware of the relegation rules and which races are undervalued by the UCI points, but it must be said that a big...
