    you are right. if mac andrews was in Collingwoods academy or a northen academy program the rule would have been changed ahead of them drafting him. The AFL are so predictible in their greediness.

    Who would have thought this would become such a headache for everyone? We have only been complaining about father sons for 20+ years now and the academy since its inception, Who could have foreseen these problems?? I guess our children will be happy when its all sorted out by the 2050 season.

    if the contract length and amount in any way dictates the players value in a trade then it is a bit silly to be able to reorganize the contract after the fact.

    But no one complained when a few Victorian clubs took advantage of getting a bunch of gun F/S's into the team for cheap so its not worth complaining about apparently.

    I think you'll find St kilda fans have been complaining since Hawkins got drafted for nothing, that was like 5 rule tweaks ago.

    as long as the league itself grows and gets more money then it is a success, the AFL is a business and the only metric for success is money.
