Prediction Dogs V Hawks Friday 27th WO 7.10PM

3rd quarter dominated by English. I reckon he's done enough, time to be managed now.

Perhaps only very minor. Looks like he's good to go again.

Sanders BOG thus far for mine. He's working overtime being the creator in the back line and linking further up the ground. Too bad about Baker's injury, wings are not our strong suit.

    Training 2026 Bulldogs Pre-Season

I see Tom McGuane is listed for the VFL squad. He was not taken by Collingwood as a father-son and was over-looked again as a Rookie. He's a small, lightly-built midfielder who looks to lack the polish of some of the other drafted mids in his highlights reel. However, there is enough there to...

Strategy What can be done to fix the Bulldogs defensive issues

A lot of trouble is the short answer. Watching a lot of VFL I'm not convinced Lachie Smith is suited to the new rules, particularly the centre bounce. He's more of a body on body type rather than a high jumping type. Assuming we couldn't afford to take Darcy from his key forward role or Lobb...

Strategy What can be done to fix the Bulldogs defensive issues

I agree. We just don't have the players of the calibre of a Barrass, Andrews, Stewart or anything close to them. In fact, there's really no one on our list who can play back and beat a stronger opponent in a physical contest. The coaches will have to come up with strategies to avoid leaving our...

State of Origin/Practice game vs Swannies

Accepting that this was a practice practice match, the following points are only indicators. Sanders was the best of our mids, he worked hard throughout and was creative. Hynes was a major contributor in various positions on the field. Libba was very solid but some of his handballs were rusty...

I don't think he was berating Croft. He was pointing out that his skills (mainly his kicking) are not up to the required standard which, as I see it, is accurate. Croft is a very good mark and has a very determined attack on the ball but he needs more polish to finish off this good work.

State of Origin/Practice game vs Swannies

It's a good thing that Lobb will play full back this season because O'Donnell is all at sea playing there. It's a worry that the backline is only missing Lobb and yet is full of holes.

State of Origin/Practice game vs Swannies

Big quality forwards are going to kick a lot of goals against this backline but I think we already knew that and we have to make the best of the personnel we have. We are matching Sydney or even doing better in general play but the finish in the forward 50 is the difference. Sanders, Croft and...

State of Origin/Practice game vs Swannies

We can certainly see what the team is trying to do with the lead-up short pass style. It looks good if they can sustain it, but if it all breaks down in the forward 50 then it is a lot of hard work for little reward. However, I like a lot of what I see but, of course without Darcy and Naughts to...

Yes, this is a problem that is easily transmissable amongst siblings.

State of Origin/Practice game vs Swannies

Just a few side observations: Gunston still looks lean and fit and will kick plenty of goals. Old man Danger still has petrol in the tank and will cause headaches for opponents. Geelong have pulled off yet another recruiting coup in Lawson Humphries - Pick 63 in the 2023 draft! Bont was in...

Strategy Trade and List Management Thread Part 8 (opposition supporters - READ posting rules before posting)

Perhaps a bit similar to Jack Redpath in size and style. Reliable 2 - 4 per game goal kicker at VFL level. Good mark and kicks straight. Is he what we need? Wouldn't think so. Tall forwards are the least of our worries.

Apart from Weddle, Ginbey would be my pick as a young, attacking back who can also defend one on one. Should be on our radar post 2027. Would be difficult to dislodge him as he's a local WA product.
