The Timewatch "Shadow of the Ripper" documentary is also good on the cultural background of the case. It's on BBC iPlayer and Dailymotion, although it seems to have been taken down from YouTube. -

There was another unsolved serial killer case in London at the time, the Thames Torso Killer. There was a BBC documentary series about it recently with Lucy Worsley, although I haven't seen it yet. -
