    Both the batting and bowling was of a lower standard, just as pretty much all disciplines in all sports were of lower standards in the past. So yeah, it was a bowlers game, but that's more to do with worse batsmen and worse batting conditions than any type of bowling superiority.

I'm not saying that Bradman definitely wasn't the greatest, it's just not an absurd concept that batsman who have played against a much higher standard of bowler may actually be more effective cricketers than someone who played with the game...

    There is a valid case to make that Bradman is not the greatest batsman of all time. The standard of professional sport improves so much over time, that the greatest may well be Ponting/Lara/Tendulkar/Smith.
