is the carlton/collingwood rivalry really a big deal these days? I don't think the players & coaches really get into as much as they used to, it's just a media thing.
The only reason this match will be a 'huge' game is because of the Melbourne media - most of the other states don't give a rats...
There was something on a previous board about last week's WCE vs Nth game, about how Harvey is almost above criticism given what he's done in his career so far.
He played poorly in round 1, fair enough, everyone has bad games. Watching the replay of yesterday's game, I don't think he was that...
The $2.85 at TAB for us H2H is VERY tempting I think....
We're in with a big shout today and I we start well could win by a few goals. Either that or we'll get blown apart. I don't see this turning out to be a close game
1. Collingwood - they're so far out in front at the moment, it's not funny. But if they get a few injuries, it could make things interesting.
2. St. Kilda - okay, they lost the first game. But this is likely their last season to really push for a flag before they get completely broken...
I wouldn't tip them outright, but I'd put a few bucks on the TAB line at 26.5pts for $1.90.
It will be closer than most think I reckon, but GC will struggle to kick goals and that is what will be their downfall.
If they get 20+ thousand to the game, that's a win for everyone I think. You wouldn't expect a full house, but you wouldn't expect a dud crowd either.
There'll be a decent national TV audience as well, given that it's live on OneHD (except for WA I think)
Overall, in terms of 4 quarters worth of quality football, probably the Adelaide v Hawks game.
But just in terms of the tense finishes, the Syd/Melb, Freo/Bris and WCE/NM games were top notch.
Tight, contested footy with the players basically running on fumes, crowds on the edge of their...
In the 2009/10 offseason, if you said we would lose McKinley and replace him with Darling, I would have said 'yes please'.
In the 2010/11 offseason when we 'traded' McKinley and drafted Darling, I said 'thank you'.
After yesterday's game, I say 'frak yeah!!!'
my thoughts as a WCE supporter at the game:
Lachie Hansen: okay, so his kicking let him down. But for a key forward, he's got a big tank plus a great pair of hands. Future star.
Cam Pedersen: basically a tall forward on debut against Dean Cox returning to his 2005/06 form. Mostly beaten...
I really, really, really, really (x100) doubt Lynch will be dropped this week. Sure, his kicking was most ineffective, but in the second half he did a mountain of work around the ground, contesting throwins/ballups and generally providing a big body for the runners to work off.
Unless NicNat is...
it doesn't matter who wears it, as long as someone does.
It's already 100% scientifically proven that if we don't have someone wearing the #3 guernsey, we have a sh1t season (ie. 2008-2010).
I suspect one of the rookies who played this year would want it - Strijk, Hams, Stevenson...
this is true for me also, even though I'm an Eagles supporter. Every time the Bombers came to town, I made sure I got to the game (even before I was a member).
no chance Rosa will be dropped - he's one of very few in the team that can run & carry.... disposal is 50/50 though (but still better than a few).
Selwood is also zero chance of being dropped - he doesn't stop trying, always at the bottom of a pack.
Priddis is the same as Selwood, but...
