That did surprise me too. The only small shutdown defender we had was Grjl and he was rotated through the middle. Why not try Smith or even use Green (he actually spends a lot of time in the defensive half) surely we should have planned a bit better. -

With Faul it seems that when he runs forward to launch for a mark the defenders give him a shove early and accelerate him into the contest and under the ball. Alternately they block him early and he doesn't get to the contest. I suspect that with a little more strength and experience he will... -

Did you see when Max Gawn picked up Ryan by the ankles and used him like a baseball bat to hit the ball from the centre toss up to the goal square. I think that was the only clearance Ryan recorded for the game. -

Maybe we should have played Steely Green in the midfield and had Taranto one out in the goal square and solved both problems. Sorry I was just thinking outside the box. Like Yze believes, if you're not a top 10 pick you cannot play midfield. It's just the way it is -

Hopper can get the ball, but he needs to be surrounded by players who can play on the outside. If they play Hopper Lalor, Ross and McAuliffe we will have the same problem as we have had all year. Hopefully the MC will mix it up a bit
