AFL Player 7: Indefatigable Zach Merrett

Publicly we were closed off to the idea but negotiations were happening between the two camps right up until the last minute. Potroro was running between the offices of the two clubs constantly on trade night and I can only assume it wasn't because he had a new exercise regime. The deal...

AFL Player 7: Indefatigable Zach Merrett

Trading Merrett would have just led to the opposite argument. We would still be in a losing situation if not worse. The media would just be saying this is what happens when you trade your best player for 3 picks in the late teens. This idea that that trading Merrett would have led to us...

Preview Round 3: Essendon vs North Melbourne, Saturday 28/03/26, 7:35 PM

In: Tsatas, Farrow, ADW & May Out: Sharp (inj), Redman (imj), Nguyen, Huss Nguyen and Huss are dropped. They simply refuse to kick the ball and its most likely because they are not ready for AFL senior footy yet. I would rather have players that try and break to get a clear kick then players...

AFL Player 42: Jayden Nguyen - He tackles so we extended his contract.

If you refuse to kick the football, cannot kick the football or don't have confidence to kick the football then you should not be playing senior footy. Tries hard and is brave but at the end of the day the game is about meters gained and goals scored. Needs a good run in the 2s IMO.

    AFL Player 5: Elijah Tsatas

Lets calm the farm a bit. He is still only 21 and has had a chequered run with injury. We may have got it wrong but 90% of clubs would have gone for Tsatas at the pick we had. He certainly would not have lasted past pick 9.

I think that explosion is still there. It just gets hidden because every other mid in the comp has that same trait. Agree on your latter points - however not many young players have those skills from the get-go. Its a learning process.

    AFL Player 5: Elijah Tsatas

I think that is over-stated. All mids new at AFL level struggle with their kicking (except for outliers like Daicos) given they just generally do not have the time and space that you get playing other positions. We are already seeing people be critical of Roberts and his kicking since the move...

    AFL Player 5: Elijah Tsatas

He doesn't have to be a mid. He could play off HB as an example or even as a defensive forward. Most AFL players are exclusively midfielders as juniors and they only learn other positions when they get to AFL level. It takes a bit of rewiring but it can be done. The good thing about Tsatas is...

You will get no argument from me on any of the above except for Auskick which runs at a loss and serves other purposes besides introducing kids to footy.

The majority of the invitees you mean. Like I said, most of them are wealthy individuals in their own right. They can start their own festival instead of leeching off taxpayer money. I’ve never understood why these things need to be funded anyway.

She was INVITED to a festival. That invitation has now been revoked. There are I dare say thousands of Australian authors who were not invited also. Her presence there was not an assumed right.
