    There would have to be a deficit limit and of course the afl could block it. I don’t think it will come to that and they’ll make a deal work. I just think it’s going to be tricky for the lions to trade our two first round picks and still come up with somewhere close to 3300 points without going...

    I understand all of it. But if the dogs want early picks and brisbane trade out two first rounders or even 1. The afl wouldn’t allow them to go that much into deficit. They can trade next years first rounder into this years draft but what value does that have ? They simply don’t have the picks...

    They’ll be 2nd round picks at most. Plus they have fletcher who could be a top 20 pick eating up points too

    So hypothetically they trade next years future first. If they go into deficit does that impact their traded first or their next selection. I don’t know if this has happened yet.

    Given the situation with father son points though there’s no certainty that the pick won’t be compromised so dogs wouldn’t do the deal.

    And he’s not a free agent. He’s just in contracted. dogs are before the lions. So that won’t work.

    Brisbane won’t have 2 1st round picks. This years will get taken by Ashcroft and given the amount of points he and fletcher will take up it’s going to be hard to not eat into next years draft points.     Surely the hold up is he wants to go to brisbane but they have no way of making the deal happen. Brisbane will need to trade out something significant to get the deal to happen.

    I have already read that he’s grown from 174cm earlier in the year to now somewhere around 178cm. By the start of next year he’ll most likely be around 185cm
