    Further to this, Sydney and Gold Coast have already traded their 2026 natural 1st round picks. If either was to go on a losing streak and end up in the bottom five at the end of the year, I'm pretty sure they would miss out on the extra 2nd round compensation pick.

    If a bottom-five club has their natural 1st round pick moved back one or more spots, they still need to use that pick on a player to receive the extra 2nd round pick. If they trade their natural first (either before or after it slips), then no compo. At least that's how I read it 🤷‍♂️

They can't satisfy all three criteria as written, as they won't have played in the preceding season to have finished in the bottom five. So no 2nd round compo if their non-traded top 5 picks are moved back, and no extra incentive...
