    It took too long but Esava was finally tried in defence and as expected he took to it like a duck to water. I wouldn't mind a dollar for every failed forward that went on to become a champion in defence.

    There are plenty more players that have returned to their states giving teams like the Eagles, Crows, Dockers etc a similar advantage to Geelong's.

    If we had access to individual player contested possessions from this season to compare with previous seasons individual stats it may become clear which players are down and help us to see a clearer picture of what's going wrong.

    Nothing new this week against Footscray. Hawkins still not getting the frees, it seems Brian Lake is allowed to grab fists full of Toms jumper.
