Fair enough. Not an alias I just don’t use big footy. Rear view mirrors always perfect. ! Was my Honest reaction but I should have kept it to myself as this is too trolly - apologies. (a friend sent me a link to this post)
Statistically speaking, if we were a random chance of finishing any position on the ladder each year. Since 1983 there is a 1 in 50,000 chance of making the finals 2 time or less. Sucks to be us. A proliferation of bad management, poor finances, crucial matches out of our control not falling our...
No - the punishment doesn't fit the crime.
The biggest challenge with the current system is that umpires do not clinically apply the same standard to 50m decision making. At one stage this year, the toenail over the line was getting paid, 10 mins later in the same game a bloke runs a few...
This percentage chart shows why I rate 1996 as our 'could have actually gone somewhere if we made the finals' year. Two one point losses (including the only goal ever disallowed for shepharding I have witnessed in my life), a choke against Hawthorn late in the season (from memory), the Hawks...
Pretty stock standard night but plenty of food and grog. Heaps more people there than last year - which was just after Frawley gave himself the flick. Someone coughed up $2900 for a day in the box with Wallace next year, and one of each signed player guernsey was 'silent auctioned' at the back...
Tonight,
Richo, Lids, Simmonds, Pettifer and Coghlan (perhaps he was dazed) all missed goals from 30m out in a 15 degree arc of goal. Following all these misses I'm pretty sure Freo kicked the next goal. Similarly to the game against Carlton, we missed good chances and got punished on the...
You do the supporters you have, who have a brain, a dissesvice. Yes - the umpires are out to screw the Power up. That's why they let Francou throw the ball, in the last quarter, directly resulting in a goal that put the game definitely out of our reach.
Why would you even give a crap? You won...
Odds will most likely reflect the weight of money and history. People have been burnt (myself included) betting on us in the past. If you look at the papers, most people are tipping Essendon (just). It will take time before we become the favorites in these types of games. So all this means is...
These guys are buskin' wh@res. A different top, scarf or beenie for whichever club has the most supporters on the way in, and for whoever wins the match on the way out.
Damn good marketing though and they look like they are earning at least a good night out at the pub.
The club have done a fantastic job of putting at least parts of the Club Corner on the website, so you can listen to them at a more reasonable hour.

Could be some angry calls tonight. Let's hope Tivendale isn't the special guest.
That tackle was FANTASTIC :D
We were sitting on the wing in the Southern and Kellaway must have run about 10 metres at top pace before he laid the tackle. He pretty much hit the Weagles player at the same time he took possession of the ball - brilliant timing and completely blindsided him.
Fantastic summary of these games. You managed to recollect all those horrible memories of us being competitive for 3 quarters before getting steam rolled by someone (usually Carey) in important games.
You failed to mention Allison's Olympic Medal performance in the 2nd 95 clash though...
Non-Victorian
-------------
As a non-Victorian team you get effectively 10-12 games against a team that has travelled interstate, where typically you go in as favorite - even if the team isn't travelling that well.
Zero or one 50:50 games against the other team in the state.
And 10-12...
We seem to always hit north at this stage of the season and other than the blow out last year, is usually a competitive game where they get over the line. Becomes a must win for us as we can't afford to lose 3 in a row and get some 'negative momentum' if there is such a thing.
On a lighter...
