So, if they don’t change the points index next year, and there's no discount…
A bid at pick 1 (3000) - picks 6 and 9, or picks 7 and 8 (14 point deficit)
A bid at pick 3 (assuming Cochrane bid at 1, and match at 2) - (2178) - picks 12 and 13, or picks 11 and 14 (49 point deficit).
As others...

Matching bids in 2026…
AFL pushing that clubs will have to match a bid with their next 2 picks. Likely to be able to go into deficit, presumably into the following season
10% discount will be scrapped
Clubs won’t...
They key defender debate is interesting. As a generalisation, they are often shorter than key forwards, with exceptions of course. Here's a list of current and recent key defenders (and yes, some don't/didn't always play traditional key back), most of whom have been All Australians...

The calculator has been given a workout. Here's what I can work out if WC bids on Dean at 3 (seems to be the consensus worst case scenario for us), and we do the picks swaps with Ess and North. (Others may have already posted something like this, if so, apologies.)
The second round currently...
I did some calculations on the impact of different Dean bids on 9 and 11. It doesn't cover all scenarios, and makes some assumptions eg bids on Uwland and Patterson coming early, possible bid for Annable. It also doesn't take into account any pick swaps. I think the calculations are correct...
A question around Curnow and what we might accept in a trade for him. The unspoken requirement seems to be an equivalent star coming back our way (and possibly more), however do the impending changes to father-son change our thinking on this?
If what has been suggested is true (apparently the...
Apologies if I've missed this, but with Smith and Kemp both out for the season, doesn't that open up the option for 2 picks (of which we might only want to use 1)?
I just think these days, teams are so good at coming off their man, going third up and spoiling, it just doesn't work. All the best teams are able to find players in space, not necessarily on the lead. WC are probably the one team that does a bit of bombing to Kennedy and Darling, but they also...
Disappointed to hear that if it does turn out to be the game plan. Other clubs seem to find ways of hitting up players in space inside 50, and it doesn't have to be leading forwards. It can be mids dropping back into space, small forwards finding space, shouldn't be that hard...
What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
Actually, I do have a question. My biggest frustration over the last umpteen years has been the incessant bombing into the forward line. I asked this question early in the pre-season...in the match sim, what does the delivery into the forward...

I posted this in the training discussion thread, but this might be a better place for it...
Anyone able to repost that photo of Kemp running laps at training, where he looks like he's had 8 pre-seasons? My Essendon mates are saying that Cripps is a beast (as a compliment, you can imagine how...
Off topic...anyone able to repost that photo of Kemp running laps at training, where he looks like he's had 8 pre-seasons? My Essendon mates are saying that Cripps is a beast (as a compliment, you can imagine how rare that is from them), want to send them the pic of Kemp so that they know what's...
