AFL Player # 8: Ben "Goblin" Hobbs

Makes the team because he has intent. Unfortunately that's where the positives end. Too small, too slow, not skilled enough and low football IQ. There is moments where he flashes but then water finds its level and it's just not up to the standard.

    AFL Player #6: Jye Caldwell

Guy fell on his ankle after a disposal. So best case, bad roll but this is us so syndismosis is on the table I guess. Didn't have the twist mechanism which is a positive

AFL Autopsy Dimmed by the suns.

Fun game to watch, youth looks good, just keep giving them exposure to teams. Keeping the win total down keeps us up top of the draft order so another positive. Looked alot stronger down back with rids there which is to be expected. Probably Kako's best game, Caddy continues to show he may be...

Change of philosophy Smaller and weaker, not shorter and not unheard of.

I'd be interested if there has been a change in the ovals used and what type of running splits are used and on what surfaces. We used to do training on both grounds and there was talk of soft tissues getting a bit out of control a couple of years ago that roughly correlated to them stopping...

AFL Player #31: Zach Reid - minor hamstring strain may require preventative surgery - 4/7

Just to correct this as it's been posted a bit, It was found to be smaller and weaker not a shorter hamstring. The annoying part is I don't believe if you are running a well resourced and elite department that you should need to go to qatar to figure that out.

    AFL Player #41: Saad El-Hawli - Pinged a string, out for 4-6 28/5

Probably just a like next time, didn't really need to post.

    AFL Player #41: Saad El-Hawli - Pinged a string, out for 4-6 28/5

The re-signing is probably more evidence that this list is going to have some further cuts that we may not be anticipating. Happy with it if it means new faces all through the lineup both at AFL and VFL. I just want most of the playing group turned over. He has some nice tricks I'd like to see...

3 players in a light session? After we had cluster injuries in single sessions earlier in the season didn't we? Hope we are pouring money into figuring this out. Look at the surfaces please.

In keeping with tradition of going after big name forwards, Sydney should have a crack.

I think it was done, that's what led to this. They knew, the whole club did. This isn't how they have played all year, this is soulless.

Coach Men's Senior Coach: Brad Scott - Playing the kids!

It's interesting to see how wet weather affects GWS, a side who has had some really memorable gritty wins in the wet. But I imagine majority of the time it historically dampens their running ability edge they had over most teams and their ball movement suffered.

Many players do, our captain for one. What annoys me is it was not just "a push", if it gets you in the right spot you will react. It doesn't deserve a fine, but it's a bit rich when fans take shots at players saying they are acting, some shots are harder than they look.

You won't be able to talk sense into people on clearance stats. Seemingly If you get 30 disposals and have 10 clearances it's a good game, no matter what you do with it.

It was a forceful open hand strike in a good spot. It was a bit more than simply a push. Like I said, I wouldnt have fined either but it wasn't simply "a push" and just because nick reacted doesn't make him soft.

Open hand strike if you get the palm in the right spot can wind you a bit. I wouldn't fine either of them. The Matrix works as well as possible to make it as objective on the "easy" stuff and nuance is sought at the tribunal. They have actually done a really good job applying a common sense...

    AFL Player #39: VIGO Visentini

I kind of disagree, I would have played him earlier. But it's not about games played volume wise it's about development opportunities. Get bigger and older is a pretty shit development plan, not that I'm saying you think it should be that. The opportunity presents across this year though to...

AFL Autopsy RND 15: Lost to the Dockers

Also, Parish's limitations aside which were on full display. He at least lowered his eyes on a few occasions and tried to hit a target with touch or put the ball in a dangerous position. That is an improvement for him. Conversely, that was Andy's worst game, he is trying way too hard. Lav, my...

AFL Autopsy RND 15: Lost to the Dockers

I don't disagree that where we are at, cleaning out a bulk of the non professionals is a good move. I don't think anyone can know whether he would of reached what he has now here, the club certainly didn't think so. I think that is the issue, a strong, well run development culture would take...

    AFL Player #39: VIGO Visentini

Some players have "it". This kid does, has all the right tools physically and has the temperament. The club should be planning out the rest of the year to give him experience against a range of opponents, needs to get a taste of the level against different types so he can see what types of...

    AFL Player #41: Saad El-Hawli - Pinged a string, out for 4-6 28/5

He's had two injuries, one a hamstring which are common injuries and a ankle injury which isn't so much an injury that repeats. He's also just turned 24, not 27. He has a trait that we don't have much of (speed). Why the pessimism?

AFL Player # 1: Andrew "Pidge" McGrath (VC)

Yep Agreed there. I think that is kinda my point when we talk about some of our players on this board, using the two hot topics of Parish and McGrath as examples. A common comment is to throw a counting stat back as evidence of a good game or performance. There is more to it than that. We...

    Recruiting AFL Draft Watch 2025 - 2x 1sts, 2x 2nd round picks, and 12 months to go

They do, But Richmond aren't the team they were if they are asking Dusty to do the dirty jobs and play fully accountable football. Some players, the players that generate offense get the free reign to be defensively lax. I'd put Martin in that group, a player like Parish I would not. I wouldn't...

AFL Player # 1: Andrew "Pidge" McGrath (VC)

Getting beat on the lead probably should be graded as a loss, you lost your position and you allowed your opponent the ball. Or a stat that breaks down the types of contest/battles that occur between forward and defender to allow any form of analysis. When you look at your description, a...

AFL Player #26: Archer May - 3 goals v Gold Coast

Archer "Nonna" May, I thought he moved well. Reckon he could play rest of the year just to give us another good target as Wright is showing signs of not contesting through fatigue to get to the contest and saves caddy being the main guy.
