    Rookie-List

Michael Embley is one unlisted player who is officiaally training with Eagles. The club has to apply for this to happen so one can assume he will be rookied.

Woewoedin not to be a roo

East Fremantle will do everything they can to get him home. They need some experience at the club and with some cash from the draft may be able to afford him

    Rookies

Toovey training at Collingwood so expect him to be gone by the time Dockers get a pick.

plenty of scope for the 1 psd + 4 rookie spots

Taggart, Seal and Toovey were at Draft camp and the only WA ones not drafted. Taggart played as a tall (193) for WA in the 18s but mainly as a wing and flanker in the East Freo reserves. He was injured at draft camp but has only played footy for 5 years after soccer, a development player...

    2006 Rookies??

So how many Rookies for the Lions. Nine? Some must be from QLD, is that right?

    Rookies

Apart from Toovey, Taggart and Seal, the only draft camp attendees from WA who missed out being drafted, are there any other likely rookies to be named December 10? If Stribling is one then another small, eg. Seal, may be unlikely.

    Rookies

Those who went to draft camp and missed out on saturday would be the most likely ones. Toovey and Taggart from WA may be considered as they were interviewed in Canberra.

    Rookie-List

you would think that Toovey Taggart and Seal would be priorities given they went to draft camp

Top club in the draft; East Freo?

Kenedy, Ryder, Clark, Ibbotson, Swallow. 5 out of 6 Draft Camp players taken this morning, is that the top club result? Taggart the unlucky one to miss out. Only Ibbotson stays in WA.

    2006 List and Matera's Replacment

not having a full list is a risk. eagles had a good run with injuries until the end of the year. a full list is essential these days so that players can be rested and recover from injuries and youngsters can get their opportunities.

    Matera's Retirement

The West also indicated that pick 50 was available.

    Matera's Retirement

i don't think the Eagles will worry about $40k if a good draft or rookie pick is available.

    Matera's Retirement

Surely the Eagles will get AFL permission to have another selection in the ND. I imagine the timing of the retirement reflects this position. They probably have 4 ND players in mind. Space can be found for Rookies during the year if they are good enough.

    Whoever we draft......

another draft pick?...... will phil's retirement mean an extra late pick for the eagles on saturday?

Personal Rankings - Not a Phantom Draft

an interesting read; good to see that you value going to draft camp as this is still the best indicator of players being drafted

Mitch is in hospital and recovering. Thankfully the virus was detected in the early stages and he will be fine. Out on Thursday it appears.

    Draft

can anyone tell me how the eagles have only 3 draft selections? 18 for 13 and mcconnell to kangas but the other late picks?

    So how excited are you?

try living in WA we will be up at 5am to see WA do the best it has for several years with 8-10 likely to be drafted.

    Garrick Ibbotson

As Lockyer knows he does have the x factor but is young. Most of next year in colts and reserves will see him playing league at years end. then a 2006 top 20.

Multi position players in the draft

While some 18 yr olds are likely to play designated positions (size the best predictor) others have many options. Some who played in the national 18s played in positions, particularly defense, for the first time. Some clubs seem to look at versatility more and more. Take Embley at West...

    Weaver mock draft

This is an important consideration. However clubs seem to look at versatility more and more. Take Embley at West Coast, Burton at the Crows, as examples. as juniors they were playing as key position players but now are seen as very flexible. Draftees that can play a range of positions yet do...

possible # of draftees/rookies from each club:

East Fremantle had 6 at Draft Camp and 2 at State Screenings. Some suggest 4 to be drafted and 2 rookies, others are more optimisitic.

    footydraft update 14/10

thanks footyman 104 players named and still some who went to draft camp not on the list. always an interesting time as clubs do follow up interviews post draft camp but probably wise to list all who went to draft camp uner others.

    WA Footy Looking Good

It is amazing that East Freo had 6 at Draft Camp. Is that a junior club record? Given East Freos WAFL outlook they will be hoping that some, at least 2 or 3, get to stay in WA. The club, like all WAFL clubs, needs the money but more importantly they need these young guys playing for the Sharks...

    If North are so dumb.......

Can someone explain to me how the roos picked up Rawlings and pick 43 all for the low price of pick 46? Why do they want to get rid of him so badly? And are they not losing out in this deal?

    The weak draft fallacy

Thanks Scarlet fever, a well considered view of the draft. An accurate summary. The Cats may look west or perhaps even north to attract another joel corey rather than rely on the Vic talent which is not as strong as last year.

who reckons there will be many smokies in this years draft

clearly many of the WA, Qld and SA players who attended draft camp and still don't appear on draft lists are the smokies
