I know that we were only planning to take 3 players in the draft, but now with fido retiring we have another spot.

What do you think we will do?

1.) Take 3 in the draft and elevate a rookie
2.) Take 4 in the draft
3.) Take 3 in the draft and 1 in the preseason draft.
4.) Take 3 in the draft and re-draft a 2005 delisted player

Any thoughts?

Technically we cant replace him unless we elevate a rookie or use a pick in the PSD, Id say that Ben Sharp has got the promotion he deserved in the first place.

I guess they will wait until after the draft to make this decision. They will wait and see if there is someone still there that they like.

As mentioned, Sharp deserves elevation from the Rookie list

Seems to be a quite a few KPP fowards ranked highly in the draft this year so one of the selections should be one of these players.

Draft only 3, and leave an empty spot on our list. Gives us the luxury of promoting anyone we want at anytime during the season.

not having a full list is a risk. eagles had a good run with injuries until the end of the year. a full list is essential these days so that players can be rested and recover from injuries and youngsters can get their opportunities.

One less player on the list is hardly going to make a difference.

Furthermore, what are the chances of any of our draft picks getting 1 game in the year, let alone being an integral part of the team? Unless we drafted a 17 yo Judd again.

Sharp will be promoted and then we'll rookie an extra west aussie kid. Seal, Mills, apparently we've even had a chat to spaanderman. I'd say they'll wait until tomorrow's draft is done before they make a decision on who to take in the rookie draft, should be interesting,

Well you took 3 in the draft, so I would say it is on the cards that you will elevate a rookie. Their doesn't appear to be too much going around that the coast really need in the pre-season draft.

Ben Sharp seems like the likely candidate and one rookie who would have been picked up by a number of AFL clubs if he had not re-signed with the Eagles.

WAFL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
TOP 10 FINISH IN SANDOVER MEDAL
U18 - ALL AUSTRALIAN REP
U18 - VIC METRO REP - kicked the winning goal in the championships

One of the question marks that gets floated around this forum is whether or not he has the pace to play midfield. His endurance can't be questioned, but when required he can also turn on a burst of speed. He may not be ready for the eagles midfield just yet but will make a great addition to the eagles as a back pocket or HBF. He will aslo have the ability to do stints in the midfield or on the wing as required. This is one kid who doesn't need another year playing 'Bush League' football in the WAFL.
