He was disappointed not to get midfield time even after Hopper and Taranto left.
Similar midfield pedigree to ZacWilliams.
That aside he’s a hard nut with slick disposal on both sides. A little bit slow across the ground, but reads the play well.
He had a burst a few years ago where he looked it but it's more likely another ZacWilliams contract where the signing club think they're smarter but rather than get someone on the cheap instead pay them at the top of the market for something they're not.
Seen some Scum campaigners on social media joking about the contract length
Do they not see the hypocrisy in that? They overpaid ZacWilliams off one good final and to be injured most of the time and paid Jack Martin $1m a year to be injured most of the time.
We get the good GWS players, they...
...fit any of our three primary needs;
KPD to support Weitering
crafty crumbing small forward
powerful & pacey mid
We already have a bunch of current & young HBF’s, even pushing ZacWilliams to the forward line to get him a game.
Nobody’s losing their mind over an old-ish HBF - Port fans aside.
Just look at their small forwards, their best one looked like a 2 game rookie in Moir...they have had to turn ZacWilliams into one. Owies tries I'll give him that and he puts in effort, but he's no better than a C grade (at best) small forward. You'd be better spending pick 25 (whatever it is)...
You're forgetting failed defender, failed midfielder ZacWilliams signing a $5M 6-year deal. Would be close to Geelong's top earner behind Cameron.

...Ben McKay $1.5 million a year. The media flogs would fall off their chairs with excitement about how much content they could write about it. Aren't ZacWilliams and Jack Martin on 800k plus at Flogland? Always amuses me how much salaries are all everyone talks about when Collingwood recruit...
Docherty is no longer a defender.
ZW has proven to be uncompetitive as a defender (needs to be more competitive overall & contest, wherever he plays, which has been sounded out as a forward for ‘25).
Grimes was cooked.
...years then they can keep him, hardly disastrous for us as we have an all aust calibre half back returning from a year out in Docherty, ZacWilliams who can go back especially if Moir and SOS come good.. We bring in Haynes, and I would have a conversation with Dylan Grimes and see if he was...
...contracts. e.g. if in top 25%, 10% etc.
Also worth noting that variation of contracts made under this rule is very limited (if at all possible). e.g. we can't renegotiate ZacWilliams' contract, as we signed him as a free agent, and the compensation to GWS was based on the contract written.
Love this, anything over the last two years?
It shows that he can very much step into the midfield and perform, and it’s not just a pipe dream (ie ZacWilliams)
Apparently he is getting scaled up with the new deal and is on about 1.3m. Agree not ridiculous if he is playing 2021 Oliver form. But he was VFL standard this season.
His contract isn’t that ridiculous.
ZacWilliams, Ben McKay, Josh Battle, Perryman.
All average players getting paid over $750k a year.
Oliver would be on a million a season and he’s significantly better than all the above.
I have been hoping we might have a crack at Braeden Campbell but haven't heard anything. He's what we need
Travaglia I saw for our reserves and was very impressive. Good skills and a calm head off HB
Berry I would love. He is definitely what we need
I still believe our biggest improvement will...
Yeah and seems to perform his best as a loose in defense. Slight caveat in that he has done some good lockdown jobs but you don't shell out massive coin for that role.
I like Cowan and I think he will be a very good intercepting half back flanker for us - but I’m not sure that he’s good enough below the knees to go in the middle and be an extracting mid.
I really don't see it with Perryman. He wants to be a midfielder but is going to be on huge coin to play a position he has never really shown he can dominate in. ZacWilliams 2.0 IMO.
...Moir
Tom DeKoning - Sam Walsh - Adam Cerra
I/C from... Sam Docherty - George Hewett - Elijah Hollands - Lachie Cowan - Billy Wilson - ZacWilliams - Brodie Kemp etc - Ollie Hollands etc...
Still would love to see Cowan go into the midfield where he can utilize his athleticism and...

Plus Fantasia, Motlop and Durdin.
Also, I know the whole brown paper bag thing is basically a meme, but I reckon their salary cap is properly ****ed, and they're probably baulking at paying a relatively modest wage that Owies would get playing for most other teams. See also Kennedy.
I find it quite amazing that the majority of “assessments” of our small forwards do not mention ZacWilliams, Lachie Fogarty, Matt Cottrell, or mediums like hybrid Elijah Hollands or the X-factor of Ashton Muir who is verging on third tall.
I have plenty of faith in Durdin (if we get his bloody...
We have top-end talent that demands top-dollar that then requires lower pay scale underneath.
Depth is going to be tested as you can’t keep middle-tier paid players at VFL level, for the salary cap but also those players will want for more opportunity.
MK was tasked to be the JSOS...
This 100%. It just seems a cop-out on the part of the coaching staff who seem so rigid in what they are doing.
When all our midfielders were fit they randomly dropped Hewett to the reserves and played Kennedy full forward, back pocket and in the ruck. Those two are probably the most...
