They are not close to the most talented side, especially in the middle. But they are the most disciplined. A more talented side might roll them in finals but they will have to play very well to do so because Geelong are just so efficient and dependable. Last year was the anomaly, they are...
Geelong play in bursts and do so with brutal efficiency. They don’t exert more than they have to but constantly lift when challenged and take their chances.
I hate that there is not an option to mute commentary but keep crowd noise. That’s all I want to hear, especially in a game like this one with massive crowd
I agree with the views expressed on Thomas. His footy career should be over and I wouldn’t want him anywhere near Hawthorn. If Geelong choose to go down that path to help win a flag, that’s their call, but it’s not an admirable one.
It does make for interesting comparison though with Ben...
It is at least realistic that he would leave his current club. I expect he will be highly sought after by strong sides. In a strong side he could be a star. He’d be a great target for Carlton who I reckon are one gun mid short.
There’s pipe dreams (being most of the players we get linked to) and there are those well beyond pipe dreams. Holmes leaving Geelong to come to Hawthorn was well beyond a pipe dream.
It's only the very beginning but if given the choice again between keeping picks 2 and 3 or trading them for Reid, I reckon North would go the other way.
Much needed win. Played a very good burst in the second quarter. Probably eased off a bit in the second half but a comfortable win against a terrible side. The main thing is the hope that it generates some confidence for key guys who have been in poor form - Newcombe, Sicily etc
Much improved half of footy. Midfield on top and every time we enter 50 against that disaster of a North defence we look like scoring with ease
Hopefully go on with it and provide a confidence booster to a number of blokes who have started the season so poorly
The other thing with Reid is that from a business and entertainment perspective, he’s box office. You get no guarantees with premierships because only 1 in 18 clubs wins each year but Reid is someone fans will pay to watch for years.
Even when we weren’t winning flags and faced disappointment...
Their player development is the best in the business. One year dip after the satisfaction of a flag and have returned with a side being driven by a number of newer faces who they’ve somehow developed rapidly.
If you’re a player looking for a career move, they have such a compelling proposition...
