Coach Sam Mitchell's direction for the club and 2024 news

This is our worst season start in 50 years and it’s coming off 16th last year. It’s only a truly awful side in North cushioning us from the bottom

Autopsy Round 7, 2024 : Hawks get pecked by Swans

Another lamentable performance The difference in skill, application and discipline between the two sides was enormous.

    Game Day Round 7, 2024 : Hawks v Swans, 4pm MCG

Be interested to see it by quarter. Intensity early was good. Woeful since

    Game Day Round 7, 2024 : Hawks v Swans, 4pm MCG

Yes I don’t see how anyone could look at this midfield and think we are all good in there. We need midfield class

    Game Day Round 7, 2024 : Hawks v Swans, 4pm MCG

I don’t think it’s reaching that point yet but if he was not a club legend, the pressure would be much greater

Rob Mcartney said we’d struggle early in the season so it does not need any scrutiny

    Game Day Round 7, 2024 : Hawks v Swans, 4pm MCG

Putrid. We are very lucky North are so bad to take the heat and to at least get a win

If only kicking wasn’t an important skill.

    Game Day Round 7, 2024 : Hawks v Swans, 4pm MCG

On the positive side, Meek has been good again and Moore has tried his arse off to provide some sort of leadership.

    Game Day Round 7, 2024 : Hawks v Swans, 4pm MCG

The worst part of this season is the number of good players who are playing significantly worse than they did last year. Those two have the greatest gap.

    Game Day Round 7, 2024 : Hawks v Swans, 4pm MCG

It’s not age that’s the difference, it’s talent and discipline.

    Game Day Round 7, 2024 : Hawks v Swans, 4pm MCG

Poor discipline too. We do most things badly. That’s why we are bottom 4

    Game Day Round 7, 2024 : Hawks v Swans, 4pm MCG

The efficiency of good sides and star players just carve us up. Our blokes make constant skill, decision and discipline errors and class players just punish us. Those two Heeney and McDonald goals have basically put a nail through us. We haven’t been that bad so far but every mistake is being...

    Game Day Round 7, 2024 : Hawks v Swans, 4pm MCG

Been 4 goals down at quarter time a few times this year but felt the effort was really good. The skills and discipline were not. Sydney efficiently punished errors as a good side does.

    Game Day Round 7, 2024 : Hawks v Swans, 4pm MCG

Not clear. Swans player went down 50 metres off the ball. Whether it was a dive, embellished, who knows. Regardless players have no need to be making contact 50 metres off the ball when teammate shooting for goal. Dreadful discipline

    Game Day Round 7, 2024 : Hawks v Swans, 4pm MCG

That’s unfortunate. Our effort and pressure has been great. Deserved reward. Instead they punish the errors

Nah GWS are fine - no supporters to annoy me, cool theme song and Toby Greene as premiership captain. Much better than the other plausible alternatives at this stage

Don’t quite agree with that - their player development is absolutely first rate. They routinely turn bog average players like Miers and underperforming blokes at other clubs like Bruhn and Bowes into genuinely good players.

They are not close to the most talented side, especially in the middle. But they are the most disciplined. A more talented side might roll them in finals but they will have to play very well to do so because Geelong are just so efficient and dependable. Last year was the anomaly, they are...

Geelong play in bursts and do so with brutal efficiency. They don’t exert more than they have to but constantly lift when challenged and take their chances.

Blues Cats a great game early. Blues dominating in the midfield but Geelong’s defensive intent and discipline and forward efficiency is first rate
