Well, I hope this isn't true. So sick of losing players to the mysterious "family reasons" and then having them make snide comments about the club... dammit, I want the club I support to be one that players really don't want to leave, and that players don't make snide comments about. But yeah...
Fyfe may have made his name as a bull, but his fast hands are his really elite skill; watched a game in Canberra where you're really close to the players and that's the thing that really stood out. It gave me optimism over the last few years that he could recapture some form even with the body...
Controversial thoughts perhaps… didn’t mind either Sonny or Johnson’s games. Johnson lacked poise but ran hard. Sonny popped up all over the place (and one of the free kicks against I don’t think he even touched the guy)
Breaking down in the midfield when coming out of defence. Just don’t seem to have the forward structure to give targets in those situations.
Actually thought Darcy did some good things. He looks like I felt in the first few games of every season back in the day… “geez, that hurts… why do I do...
Heard an interview with Fyfe on the way home in the car. Positive - he always surprises me with his thoughtful and well-spoken responses to questions. Could see him coaching in the future, if he didn't seem the type to completely move away from football when he's done playing. Suspect he'll end...
Shades of the last 2 seasons; when you think you know what the team is, ulp, no you don’t.
Shades of the club’s whole history really.
You reckon we’d be used to it by now, but it still stings 🤷♀️
Anyway, big character test now; injuries really biting. Would give a lot for another good...
Just when I was thinking about the club's player losses over the last few years and how it'd really sting to lose Clark... up pops the club with an extension! You beauty!
Sort out the forward line and this team will be around at the pointy end.
Not sure I could go to another GF tho, still heartbroken by the last one (and annoyed the AFL couldn’t be bothered rostering umpires for the day…)
If you're like me, you're pessimistic because you've been a Freo supporter for a long time. Pessimism cushions the blows.
And also makes the highs higher :)
My favourite thing about this game so far is the Carlton supporters online whinging about the guys wrestling with d***head after he hit Fyfe high. Crikey.
It feels like every Carlton game, the club finds some new and exciting way to lose involving the umpires.
Yes, that kick was clearly deflected (and no, brushing someone's hair doesn't cause a 20 degree deflection, Kane Cornes). And what the heck is calling dissent when you don't even hear...
I’ve told this story before, but worst disgrace I have seen was at the 2013 GF. There was this bloke in Hawthorn beanie and scarf looking a bit miserable on the pedestrian bridge coming out after the game.
“Cheer up!” I said, “Your team won!”
“Oh no,” he replied, “I’m an Eagles supporter, just...
