Autopsy Round 6, 2024: Positives and Negatives vs Fremantle

He absolutely dumps on all those - like as of right now no one is picking those players over Reid to build a side around. Looks like prime Dusty already ffs

Autopsy Round 6, 2024: Positives and Negatives vs Fremantle

Yup, basically unlike Daicos, Sheezel and Ashcroft.

    The positives thread

Connor McKenna got through the reserves game and looked like he was running well. Only a month or so until Will Ashcroft is back.

Player Watch Harley Reid isnt leading the rising star so far

He was best on that day. Unbelievable. Imagine if North had JHF and Reid. I guess Sheezel and Wardlaw are OK but those two are jets.

Review Round 6, 2024 - Brisbane Lions vs. Geelong

Torrential rain, hard to plan for. Tactics almost revert to Under 9’s. Kick it long and keep it in front. We’d want a response next week. Our draw is very difficult, and our midfield is desperately needing Ashcroft. If we are to challenge it will need to be a Doggies 2016 type run by the looks.

Player Watch Harley Reid isnt leading the rising star so far

Watched him in the Under 18s grand final the year Ashcroft went at pick 1 and thought he was a complete freakshow. Made Ashcroft and Tsatas etc look like B graders in comparison, was taking the absolute piss. He may be the most talented player we've ever seen. Plays Mid, Fwd and Def with ease...

Would be a great upgrade on Nash. I certainly hope we ask the question

Rumour 2024 Hypothetical trade and FA Thread

Jarrod Berry is such a good player. He's about 6th in line in the BL midfield, and there's still two Ashcrofts to come in.

    APS/AGS Football 2024

Nice update there, scary margin ! Am all over the APS twitter Sat updates, just seeing if anything earlier drops out. Okay HQ in fact covers APS basketball. Thought Charlie Richardson was at CGS W/Hill campus (per Vermont FC) & G/son of K. Bartlett. Suspect If BGS has one too, just a...

    APS/AGS Football 2024

APS Sports usually posts the results on Saturday night. Was at Brighton v Melb Grammar. Brighton are stacked with Levi Ashcroft heading an impressive list. I heard their starting 18 are all at CTL. Massive win 152-21. MG are quite weak this year so was pleasing to see BG defend hard all day...

    Best midfield ever?

Can I ask why you think medals are irrelevant? Brownlow means was they were the best player (or one of) in a season. Lions had 3 of those in the teams. You only had 2. That is a significant different you can’t just brush off.
  14. PhatBoy

    Best midfield ever?

The toughness of that whole Brisbane midfield in general is what makes them possibly #1. Medals etc are fairly irrelevant imo. They have the weakest ruckman in Keating and I don’t think they have quite the depth in class that the Cats have but they do have a good tagging option like us, in...

And watch them happily hand that over for petty early in trade period in good faith so that melbourne can get their other deals done.

Excellent summary, agree with your points and prediction. The team that needs and wants the win more should get the points today. We are still not settled regarding best 23, but getting close. Guthrie has been awol for so long now; his presence, if fit and firing, is important, but his fill-ins...

List Mgmt. Contract, Trade and Draft Discussions - 2024 Edition

What I find interesting is that talent identification is well enough developed that at the age of 12 the guys who go at the pointy end of the draft by age 18 have been identified. Unless its a self-fulfilling prophecy (probably not)

Would that be the pick currently held by the Suns by chance? Give your team a second kicking the first round spoon and help the Suns shift another great pick forward a year! Sound familiar to anyone?

List Mgmt. Trade & Free Agency talk Pt 8

Saad was pick 8 and a 4th rounder, and Essendon got a 3rd and 4th back. Schulz was a future 1st, which 99% of people expected to be 16 at worst, and he was contracted. Hopper we overpaid due to giving a future 1st when we expected to challenge for a flag and the wheels fell off. We all...

Win Prizes Port, Pies & Saints 2024 Death Ride

I could see us doing a similar trade to this one if we rate the top 5 picks highly. A lot can change between now and the draft in terms of player positioning. There are a couple of the highest rated mids that could likely start their careers as small forwards or outside wingers...

Last year and 2021 I would definitely describe as "minimum" performances from the cats at the Gabba. Who gets CC is a good question. Typically a job for Bews but he's out of favour. Mullin might have been an option but he's in Italy. Maybe he and Holmes could go head to head idk? We don't...

Some good observations 👍 tough game and could go either way I reckon. Looking forward to this one. Brisbane more to lose for sure. If they can't win at home that's a concern. Although now they win at the G so idk

Autopsy Round 6, 2024: St Kilda v Western Bulldogs

Daicos and Ashcoft for sure. Both are young stars and are clearly ahead of Windhager as midfielders. Achcroft ACL a real pity. Hobbs certainly isn't doing it. He's closer to getting dropped than to being a starting mid. He's been to barely any centre bounces for the year. Averaging 16 touches...
