the argument isn't about who they got, they can't control who is offered up. they could be complete guns, they could be complete spuds.
The only argument is that they should all play reserves, by playing them in the seniors its an admission they are stacking as opposed to making up numbers.
as I understand the rule, Div 1 to Div 2 is allowed without seeking permission.
However, its pretty pissweak to stack your side with permits and leave your loyal fee paying club players in the 2's.
A culture like that is why permits are needed to get numbers in the first place
I've heard Grange are done. They won't win another game based on some of the exits out of the place and the turmoil of the senior group.
the boys from Chelmer would be filthy they lost to them twice early in the year when they were up and going, then get us twice coming home when we're up and...
If they were Yeronga Div 1 Reserves players (not seniors) then its allowed I'm pretty sure.
Also note that they have to ask permission, are you assuming Kedron never asked for permission? Maybe they did?
It was meant to be a bye week in Div 2 this week, so every club would no doubt be short -...
I didn't say that, nor did QAFL fan.
Blairy did have a bit of coin to work with, just not as much as a few GC clubs who have always had a financial advantage due to their lease structures.
I never said we don't have a great culture, I just said we didn't mind reinforcing the myth that all our guns (including the ones we recruited from interstate or up north) played for us for nothing. Which was never the case.
Paying 1/3rd of Southport $ is pretty big $! I would have said even...
Do we really have to go through who was out and who was in?
Sandgate and Morningside won the games, thats all there is to it.
We were probably as strong as we will get on Friday - but it was a high standard game and I doubt the Magpies had too many out. There just a few key moments that we...
Great weekend for us. Our thirds side had a huge win on Friday against a highly fancied side, we then had a training run in the 2s before a couple of cracking encounters in the 1's and Colts.
We were in a bit of strife at 3/4 time I felt from the sideline in the seniors, but then big Kent went...
If one of them is going to be small, it should be the lower one - not the higher one.
9 and 5 seems ok to me, as they would be relatively even comps and would allow for a bye
8 and 6 could work as well, but the 6th team in Div 5 would probably be a bit too strong
The top 3 or 4 from Div 5 would have been competitive in Div 4. It's absurd that Div 5 has more teams than Div 4, including teams in Div 5 that finished higher last year in a combined comp than teams in Div 4.
The obvious thing to do would have been to have Div 4 with 8 or 9 sides and Div 5...
In a quirk of the draw, we play the Magpies twice in the run home. Who gets the chocolates in those 2 games will play a big role in how we both finish.
I believe its a big day down at Chelmer tomorrow, so we will need to be really up and going.
Their % is the best of the mid table teams...
completely agree, I was merely replying to the post about Broadbeach lacking continuity due to ins and outs for Southport.
Kids going to GWS is a complete and utter joke
PBC and Labrador would have the same arrangements, every club just does it differently.
All clubs have an association with a NEAFL clubs and their excess players. Every NEAFL listed player is listed with a QAFL club as well, and there is a pre-season draft to determine this (for players that...
good effort getting a reprimand if punches thrown, even if the bloke deserved it (and it sounds like he did)
In situations like that you expect the aggressor and retaliator to both get rubbed out, but the aggressor to get the heavier penalty
Wait, a guy is changing clubs within the same division mid season?
Going from a lower performing one, to the one at the top of the ladder?
Unbelievable! AFLQ shouldn't allow clearances like that, unless the bloke has moved house or something
the cheap shot he received, or the one he dished out in retaliation.
Agree with Blocker that its unfortunate that the umpires didn't control it to prevent retaliation, but having said that - Brennan and Derrick have been around long enough to know that retaliation never ends well.
I think everyone knows Labrador are the favourites. PBC have been giving teams a hiding, and they are good front runners - but the good sides would back themselves in the close ones.
You can understand that feeling, despite it being a different coach. (I think Morgan was an assistant at Aspley last year?)
Last 2 times the Pies have played PBC, they have been pumped. Though they did beat them down at Salk in the qualifying final late last year.
2 of the last 4 vs Labrador...
