I think Sam gets judged harshly, and certainly doesn’t get kudos he deserves. Paps goal of the week last year against (?) GWS where there was a 1-2 back and forth with Wicks along the wing was as much Wicks goal as Paps. Wicks took an amazing mark in the goal square one time, almost jack-knifed...
Horse probably knows it. But he will be developing useful connections for whatever sports-related career he takes up. As well as all of the benefits of playing high level sport.
Kieran’s wife is from Perth. Her family are here. I wondered if the Don Pyke connection would come in handy. Although I do see it as slightly treasonous!
I think the responses are coloured by the residence of the authors. My 10 year old daughter was sworn at by WCE fans on entering Subiaco Oval for 2005 prelim. final. Perth is quite small in its way, and it was not uncommon to see Eagles players, or know someone at the same event with reports of...
I agree. Dalrymple was at the Swans 6 years. It’s a reasonable tenure in a high performance industry and when Sydney is such an expensive place to live. Isn’t Dalrymple originally from Victoria, so friends and family are there. All the reporting I have read describes Kinnear as well-respected...
Charlotte’s family are in Perth. Might be more support than they get in Sydney. Kieren achieved a Masters in something financial and was working for one of the Big (Evil) 4 accounting firms. Even if he’s not working for them,as an ex AFL player in Perth, he is eminently employable. Don Pyke...
What’s a big blast of reality is how few draftees really go on to have an AFL career. And how inappropriate the over the top media attention on draftees is. And late picks often do ok.
I think we agree to disagree. Some of the reporting on Freo has been very inaccurate. And their obsession with NicNat was nauseating. They’ve improved since they changed AFL journalists. I would have thought most of their Swannies reports were from syndicated sources.
I agree. He does a lot of hard, team oriented stuff which is not flashy. Papley gets the goal, but Wicks running inside of him clears the way, and gives him the one-two pass option. He does a lot of stuff like that, but I could see that he might like to be more secure. He seems to have reigned...
You mean $500000 a year, and incidentally there’s a house going, with a harbour view, near Coogee Beach for $500000. And I hear the local fashion store has some well-paid work.
Errol, with his genius level footy IQ, has already strategised how to keep the other necessary pieces of the footy puzzle to achieve a footy dynasty. He’s got a long term view.
Why do you say WCE won’t take him? He would be perfect for running the wings at the Perth Stadium. He looked fabulous the Covid year we played there. Still remember the great goal he kicked against GWS.
It was a post-operative ankle infection. Difficult to clear, and took around a year, but once it’s clear then it’s gone. It meant he didn’t play for over a year, but equally his muscles/tendons weren’t being subject to strain. He’s proved his recovery in the WAFL, and been behind a good back...
I also wonder if there wasn’t some pre-existent weakness/tear that made an innocuous act damaging. Konstanty is hardly a big guy. They do wrestling sometimes as a training routine.
