    Strategy New Direction

They have a saying in North America, better to get rid of someone a year too early, rather than a year too late. That's where I see the decisions so far, although we did offer Chappy something, he just wanted full time, which I can respect. I'm glad to see the club making the tough calls...

Work & Education How do you earn a crust? The networking thread.

Great idea for a thread. I own my own branded merchandise business. www.mementocreative.com.au AKONER I would definitely be interested in chatting with you about how we could assist.

Rumour Mooney to Stokes, "Do me a favour and wear No. 21"

The only thing I can think of is that it is linked to the locker number and games played records? You only get your name on the locker after 50 games don't you?

News Cameron Mooney could boost Geelong's premiership hopes

Re: Bring back Moondog! One thing yesterday proved is that Vardy won't be there in finals. He's good, but his body isn't big enough for a finals campaign. But looking forward to him being there in a couple of years!

    Allen Christensen

I only hope people now stop comparing him to Stokes, they are nothing a like. Just look at Christensen's clearance work, it's Selwood like in it's intensity.

Review AFL Round 17 autopsy - Brisbane is defeated by Geelong by 29 points

Re: AFL Round 17 autopsy - Brisbane defeated by Geelong Our forward line has been rubbish for about 6 weeks now. Everyone going up for the mark and few people staying down for crumbs. We're getting the entries but doing little with them. FWIW, I thought Hawkins actually played better than Pods...

    Geelong's forwardline

Re: Geelongs forwardline I think the past 2 games have showed that Hawkins brings a lot more to this team than what people want from him (goals). Is it just a coincidence that the forward line has looked ordinary while he's been out?

Kick after the siren to win a Grand Final

I'd wager there would be less than 10 players in the whole league who you would bet the mortgage on to do it, so I won't lose sleep if the Cats don't have one. Apart from the big Brown Dog up at Brisbane, I can't think of another forward currently playing who I would have money on to make it...

Review AFL Round 15 autopsy - Essendon defeat Geelong by 4 points

Re: Did anybody else notice this? Glad someone has said this and more eloquently than I could have! Corey is obviously doing so much more for this team than stats or casual observations show. Hopefully the other thing the team takes from Saturday night is that Geelong can't afford to...

    Steve Johnson's performance against Essendon

Re: Steve Johnson's performance vs Ess Johnno used to be one of our best set shot for goals, but lately his straight set shots aren't that crash hot. He kicks those 2 in the first and we're up over 30 points. Totally differnet psychology for the game. Might be because he's buggered from all...

Review AFL Round 15 autopsy - Essendon defeat Geelong by 4 points

Agree with the cooler heads that we were beaten fair and square. The one thing I took from last night was how badly we were beaten in the centre and in the stoppages.. Yes, we were without Corey and Selwood, but the bombers were without Watson and Lonergan, 2 of their best clearance players.

    2nds VFL Round 14 - Geelong v Frankston, Skilled Stadium, 1:00PM Saturday 2 July

Couldn't disagree more. It's become apparent that the club would gladly forgo VFL success to develop players for the benefit of the senior team. They even refer to the VFL side as the 'development academy'.

Geelong has the biggest advantage in the AFL

Haven't read 11 pages, but I love how it's an advantage now when we're a strong side, but not one 10 years ago when we weren't making finals. And for this thread to be started by a Collingwood fan makes all the more comical. As for the rarely travel comment, outside of the poor Vic clubs that...

Mega Thread Potential future father-son selections

Hope Colin Carter takes some more lead for Barcelona and get the kids in as early as possible. I really liked what the Dogs did, giving their F/S a few pre-seasons before the draft.

    Robert Walls

Totally agree with both of those statements. He's the highlight of Offsiders.

    What role is Bartel playing?

As far as I'm concerned, Jimmy has taken the mantle from the other great Jimmy, Hird. Like OldStyle said, he solves problems. Hird could change the momentum of a game by going to where needed to be fixed. Bartel does the same.

Toast Chris Scott - record breaker

Bit of a bump, but I really enjoy Chris Scott's pres conferences. He's got a bit of Paul Roo's about him with the media. Friendly, gives some honest answers, but keeps things close to his chest. Balancing all that with out sounding like a raving lunatic *cough* Sheedy. One of my favourite parts...

Review AFL Round 14 autopsy - Geelong defeats Adelaide by 52 points

Re: AFL Autopsy Thread Round 14 - Geelong defeat Adelaide by 52 points Varcoe was great, stood up when we needed it. Does anyone else think Chappy has had a quiet month? Christensen was very, very good. His lack of height probably gave him a few frees other players wouldn't have got. Gillies...

Preview AFL Round 14 - Geelong v Adelaide, Skilled Stadium, 1:10PM Sunday 26 June

Still not sure why Duncan isn't starting with doubts over Jimmy and Kels. I'll be watching his game on the weekend to see what flaws the coaches are seeing in his game.

Competitions Geelong Cold Calling Members - $250 draw Tickets Yay or Nay

I gotta admit to have tickets at prices more or around some membership prices is staggering. This is what grinds my gears about the TV money. Give more to the clubs for club level costs. The players can sit on their current wages for 5 years until the next contract, but give the clubs 5 years of...

MRP / Trib. AFL Round 13 findings - Corey accepts reprimand, Stokes and J Hunt accept one week each

Re: Corey can accept reprimand for rough conduct, Stokes and J Hunt one week each for striking If they are going to try and define the illegal acts, a system based on body part would have better than the stupid "reckless, dangerous, etc". Hit the head, +1 week. Oh, you did it with a clenched...

    Injury Jimmy Bartel - concussion

Re: Jimmy Bartel's State It's these times that I love Chris Scott's approach to playing positions. There are only 3-4 KPP and the rest is interchangeable. Mackie, Enright, Champan, Ling, Stokes, Byrnes, Johnson, Wojo, etc make a good rotating midfield.

    Travis Varcoe

Re: Calls for Varcoe to be dropped I've stayed out of this thread waiting for Trav to find his feet. But I was at the Hawks and Saints games and he has been pretty bad the past two weeks. Last night his 4th qtr was ok, but for the rest of the game he just didn't seem interested. He's not the...

    Toast Mathew Stokes 100 games

I'll admit I was one who predicted he would never play for us again after his brush with the law. Glad sensible heads like Cook and Balme are making decisions :) In the highlight reel, don't forget his block in the dying stages of the hawks game to give Bartel the mark and shot at goal after...

    Toast Joel Corey

Clutch Cats Did anyone see this article today in the HUN? Joel Corey has played in 15 of our 16 wins by less than 12 points and his average supercoach score for the 4th quarter is 40.7 in those games.

Toast Chris Scott - record breaker

So what was the point of your comments about Rd17 press conference and his buddy relationship with Tim Watson? I just assumed by bringing those points up you wish that he wasn't there for the last 6 or so weeks of the season. But anyway, back on topic, glad Cook called Scot and asked him why he...
