After pick 56 (pretty sure) F/S selections are effectively free. Works on a flat points discount after first round, works out that round 4 selections end up being free
I like it, keeps us from flooding our sanfl team with too many guys who wont be playing for a couple of years. Lets Carlton go home with a win of 2x 1sts but really its just a downgrade of 16 to a low 20s
The coin is my concern, if he's coming over in free agency because ours is the best financial offer we could have issues.
Don't we have Smith, Sloane, Crouch all needing contracts next year? Fair chunk of A grade talent we have to resign
How many picks do we need though? All these trades go through we'll have 5 picks in the first 2 rounds, that's 5 18 year olds straight into the SANFL team while we push for another flag next year.
Unless we can package some of this stuff into a higher pick it all holds very little value to us
Send him to the draft.
Players haven't earnt the right to nominate a destination at 3 years.
Best case scenario out of this, AFL start to look at drafted contracts for a change.
NBA has 2 year deals with team option on 3rd and 4th for first rounders at a standardized rate.
Drafting an 18...
They have better sponsership deals being in the bigger market. Hodgey played for years on unders but was on half the adds you got on vic tv, so works out better off staying with a winning hawthorn
Do this and the argument for putting real stands on the hill just got a lot stronger.
I really want to see the twilight ashes and BBL games fill up the oval to capacity this year, if the cricket board and crows both need more seats we might see it happen
So Gov has 1 year left on his deal till he's able to leave in free agency. So WC may take the opportunity to get a little more out of us than free agency comp. We may end up with a few too many picks if that's all we get out of Lever/Cameron trades than list spots we want to fill.
We present a...
It's really hard to make a call on draftees when your hitting a good premiership window, makes it hard for the young blokes to break into the side.
Consider Lynch, got drafted into that '08 saints team and just couldn't break into the side.
I'm still hoping we use some of this potential trade currency and bring in Gov from WA. Hows that for a replacement on Lever? Take that any day and might have some change leftover.
Menzel getting dropped for the Cats tonight gives me the feeling he might be looking at coming over in free agency. Averaged over 2 goals a game, could be handy.
Standing up in the 4th quarter under pressure at the MCG (regardless of the oppositions ladder position) was really good to see and not something we've had this season.
JJ especially was huge late
Bit of love for Brad in this thread. Do people actually think he had a good game or is it just on possessions? i thought his kicking tonight was pretty terrible.
Matt Crouch and Smith both had great games
The NBA system is pretty good. Players are eligible for certain % of total team cap depending on time served at a team. Think its 8 years and they become eligible for super max contracts worth 30% with the team able to exceed salary cap to spend that.
If traded league veteran contracts can...
