I’m 39. I really don’t think I’m a football expert. I played at a reasonable level but never exceptional level. For multiple years in a row of sitting on level 2, I can predict the way pretty much every play is going to go long before it happens. It’s predictable, it’s ineffective and it’s sad.

Watching Cal Ward’s season has been very reassuring in terms of what Jack Macrae can do for a lot longer yet. Neither are fast, both are tough with clean hands, even if Ward is a better mark and shot for goal, Macrae has other qualities that I think allow him to thrive for some time.

I was part of this and enjoyed it. Very strange how everything wrapped up and they lost my (and everyone else’s) annual donation to the Forever Foundation.

You’re better off out of the CBD in Sydney in general but definitely for pubs. It’s been a few years but the light brigade in Paddington was always reliably an afl pub for me.

Spoke to a recruiter during the week who said Croft has entered his top ten based on last week. We’re going to have to get creative with those firsts.

The most frustrating games to watch are when we play well and lose. Felt like we were on top from start to finish. I love Bevo, but we need a game plan that doesn’t allow teams to park their bus and counter-attack so effectively. Outdone by Stewy Dew. Darwin didn’t help but that was painful.
