Mega Thread Finals Tickets For Sale, General Info and Q&A - Post Everything to do with them in here

Re: Finals Ticketing Info Q&A - Post Everything to do with them in here I'm a Hawthorn member who's keen to buy a standing room ticket. Ticketek outlets are not selling Standing Room tickets - where can I buy them? Thanks for your help.

    Toast Mark Williams retires.

I'm a big fan of Mark Williams. I'd love to see him return to the Hawks in a coaching specialist role - something associated with goal kicking - his beautiful kicking style was always a pleasure to watch (so relaxed and natural). Thanks for the great memories!

    Changes & Discussion - Round 16 - Hawthorn v Brisbane

I think Ellis might be on the cards for a call up.

News Brereton "Hodge should be Captain"

We are very fortunate to have a great captain and vice-captain who consistently demonstrate terrific on field leadership - we should consider ourselves blessed in that regard. I think it was clear why Mitchell was chosen as captain - at the time, he demonstrated greater public speaking skill...

    Dermie on SEN

It's good to note that Dermie stated pre-season, if we were 2-2 after round 4, Hawthorn would win the flag. His motive is important to consider.

Peter Hudson video from 'Birds of Prey'

Thanks for that fantastic footage. I believe Peter Hudson was the greatest player to wear a Hawthorn jumper - 26 was proudly stitched on my back!

    Can Jordan Lisle ruck?

This kid is developing really well. In the BH finals games he was terrific - fast leading forward (he seems to have quickened since the early rounds) with good hands and judgement. He still has a bit to go but all the signs are very positive. Think of him as a Roughead type forward - not really...

    Port fury at Hawks offer

Our priorities have changed since Robert's announcement and I suspect Shaun B will be heading elsewhere. Our focus this week is now on securing a backman (Gibson) and a ruckman (Jolly). Burgoyne would have been a nice addition but not as crucial as our back and ruck need.

    Robbie Campbell Retires.

Re: Robbie Campbell Retires. Official today 03.10.09 Very sad news. A terrific ruckman with a beautiful kick and great judgement - a big loss for our club. Perhaps a member of our 2010 ruck coaching team?

    Port fury at Hawks offer

I think there's an assumption that we're desperate to secure this deal. It's a great opportunity to land a quality player but not at the expense of 9 + one of our premiership players. I'll be happy with Gibson + a ruckman in this draft.

    Clarko's Comments

Everyone associated with Hawthorn is disappointed with this season but I think the public implode by some supporters has a very unseemly look to it. Threads that challenge Clarkson and various out of form players make us look pretty poor. Lift your game! Consider the upsides in '09 - Dowler...

    Beau Dowler's future

I tend to agree. A few ago we tried the Franklin/Roughead/Boyle combo and at times it looked promising. A Franklin/Roughead/Dowler mix could give us that point of difference with other premiership contenders in 2010-12 (most only seem to have 1 or 2 big marking fwds). I'd also like to see...

    This time last year

I'm a big fan of this bloke. Just the other day I was watching the last 5 minutes of the final game vs Adelaide in 2007. We all know that Ladson passed to Buddy for that amazing winning goal. Watching the replay it's equally amazing to note that a minute earlier Ladson snuck a ripper pass to...

    is 2009 a rerun of 1972

Excellent recount! Unfortunately (maybe fortunately) I wasn't able to make it to the R.1 1972 game but it became one of those 'I remember where I was when I first heard the news' moments in my life. You are right, it took Hawthorn years to recover.

Clarkson - A Coach out of Form

My goodness the happenings of Round 1, 1972 - what a terrible memory! A tragic moment in Hawk history - his number adorned my back! Our Greatest Player.

Mark Williams out for 8 Weeks

Only a dope would suggest Williams as a trade option - some posters on this list need to lift THEIR game. In the absence of Willo, a Franklin/Roughead/Dowler forward option may be worth a try.

    A scarey thought

Let's not get too carried away with this years antics. Hawthorn is a gifted and unique team that will win one or two more flags. Watching them last night it's obvious they are playing with no confidence and no menace - components we have oozed in the last two years. It's clear that injuries...

Our title defence starts Saturday night!

Our 2009 campaign is at an end. In fact, we'll probably miss the finals and end with a 9-13 win ratio (our wins being - WC, Nth Melb, Rich). On the upside, we'll score a top 10 draft pick! I'm expecting a significant resurgence in 2010.

    Recruit Matthews and/or Wallace

The crucial three, Clarkson/Hardwick/Viney, were a vital component of our 2008 premiership and with the likely departure of Damien Hardwick at the end of the season we need to establish a new gun trio. Leigh Matthews and Terry Wallace might be worth considering - 'bring them home'. Any thoughts?

    In 1983 We Were 6-5

It seems unlikely this year but it also seemed unlikely after Round 11 in 1983 - we were 6 wins and 5 losses at the half way mark in '83. Do we dare to dream the dream in '09??

    Remember this passage of play?

Thanks for posting this footage - brilliant to watch!! Ladson plays a key role in a couple of glorious passages - can't wait to have him back in the team.

Are any other Hawthorn Supportors worried yet?

There are some posters on BF who really need to have a lie down and relax. Like you I was hoping for a period of 1980s type domination but this year has fallen short of the dream. However, I've been really pleased with the aggressive position Clarkson et al have taken with our debutants - a...

Young - Not Listed at BH Hawks or on Injury List?

I notice that Clinton Young isn't listed anywhere this round - at Box Hill Hawks or on the Injured List. He played well last Saturday with BH Hawks. Our forwards are missing his run and long direct kicking. Any news?

    Tasmania, games or name.

My goodness, I wouldn't lose any sleep over this current silliness. It's merely posturing by a political party trying establish their identity in Tasmania. It will all wash over when the next 'crisis' rears its head. I'm tipping no change to a relationship that has served both Hawthorn and...

This Weeks Banner - What a Joke

Did anyone notice Lewis laughing as he approached the banner last night? He'd just pierced the banner with a beautiful kick through Clarkson's image that adorned the left hand side (I think he hit him between the eyes). Buddy joined him moments later with another kick through the head. All Fun...

    B Mac

He's not in our best 22. Yes he goes in hard but when the ball is in his hands, kicking and judgement skills place him outside our best.

What we have to do for the rest of the season.

Re: What is happening to us? It's annoying to lose to Essendon at anytime but I share your sentiment, we have some legitimate excuses for the ordinary start. I recall a 6-5 start in our 1983 Premiership year so I'm not losing faith in the potential for a major turn around.
