Did you notice the bit where I said "at the moment"?
Instead of launching into a long and boring tirade, again, to try and demean Central's achievements, you could have said "yes, DW, you're right it is now and one day it will Port again".
But that's okay, you keep ranting on to tell everyone...
It kind of makes sense Macca.
Do you have any respect for South and Westies for the eras where they were the dominant sides? How much of an idea do you have of that time (and I respect that you, unlike some here, are well versed in SANFL history - mainly because your club has been making it for...
Yup, bring it if you want.
Why do people bring Aboriginal flags to Essendon games or Irish flags to Sydney/Collingwood games? What's the relevance there? Answer that and you might actually put two and tow together and understand the relevance of Union Jacks to Centrals.
Funny how people...
Great story, but who's debating that the SANFL was better then? Who's debating that the current Centrals side could be the Port sides of the 80s and 90s?
Why are you all so keen to knock Centrals' achievements in this era?
It's a different era, move on boys. Accept it, Centrals are dominating...
I never said they were the equal. I'm not the one here making comparisons.
I'm happy with what my club has achieved over the past decade. I don't need to compare to other clubs.
And while you're at it, why denigrate people for needing the resources of Centrelink?
What is it that you do in life that's so important that you feel you can look down on those less fortunate than yourself?
Not all Centrals supporters are feral or ill educated like you'd wish to portray...
That's a foolish quote to make.
If it wasn't Centrals knocking off Port's dominance it would've been another club.
Also, the seeds of this dominance were started well before Port entered the AFL.
The end result has occurred afterwards but the seeds were planted by Allen Stewart in 1992/93...
Sadly that's how many would consider the SANFL now.
All clubs are the same. Centrals just make better use of the players we've had over the past decade.
Feral? I was amongst that mob.
I'm certainly not feral.
I also didn't see anything but supporters enjoying a tight first quarter and an outstanding third quarter at the northern end.
So what happened that was so feral?
I haven't noticed too many comments along this line from Port supporters.
On the three forums I frequent, it's been Sturt and Norwood supporters mostly having a crack at the CDFC.
And AH, you are an incredibly bitter man. If it was your team doing this, you'd have no problems.
I reckon they need a nickname come finals time - kind of like we used to get the Doggywobbles and Collingwood get the Colliwobbles.
17 GFs for four flags would be a hard result to take for Bays supporters.
Well, you've ended your quest for a grand final to save the SANFL (obviously 35k on Sunday isn't enough) right there. If the PAFC no longer care about the SANFL then they're not going to make a GF are they?
Centrals in the AFL? And replacing Port at that? Ridiculous.
The Dogs would get nowhere near Melbourne.
And Port deserve their spot in the AFL - they worked hard to do that.
Your point isn't being lost.
We're all aware of the history and the slide in game style, crowds, sponsorship etc.
We don't need history revision.
But the argument that premierships earnt in SANFL football are any less important to SANFL followers is incorrect.
Just because a competition has...
You've really got a different take on things. Reflected in the numbers?
What's reflected in the numbers is that the AFL is the major competition and people go and watch that. SANFL is the second competition and a smaller crowd watches that. But guess what? The numbers are growing again.
Yes...
Again, who said the SANFL was as good as it was then? No Centrals supporter is claiming that. It's only those who wish to deride Centrals who bring it up.
As for a competition that gave up its soul....I think you're looking in the wrong direction.
I don't think anyone is saying that it does have that impact any more. However, the passion of those who support it is as high as it was back in the day.
Are you saying that the only premierships that really matter are in the AFL? Because let's be honest, local football (SAAFL and country...
Ahhhh the old Centrelink jibe.
The resort of those who use stereotype as they don't have the imagination to come up with any other sort of banter.
Mate - you support Geelong???? I reckon there a pretty similar demographic to the northern suburbs of Adelaide right there....
