Artists we listen to, but don't own up to

My Enya "Watermark" CD looks out of place amongst my other CDs (and I still sometimes listen to it). And I like Dido. There; I've owned up to it.

    bizaare movies.....

Casablanca with Humphey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman is very weird. Starts off as a conventional WW2 love story, then two thirds through the film there's a scene where for no reason at all everybody in the bar starts singing the Fitzroy club song. In French. Then back to the love story. What was...

    neighbours update needed

She's got a teaching job in the country. In real life she was having a break from the show while she had a baby, but she'll be back.

    Norwich back in the prem

Congratulations to Naaarwich on getting back in the Premier League. They always had a reputation for playing entertaining attacking football - I hope they can sign a few top quality players and continue the tradition. But realistically the gap in class between the Premier League and 1st division...

    Thank God He Met Lizzie

I'd put it in my top 5 Oz movies: funny, very good acting, and some spot-on observations about relationships, especially from a male point of view (even thought the writer and director were women).

Who you matchup against Melbournes Forwards

My guesses for the match-ups are: Neitz - James Holland - C Bolton with maybe Leo Barry playing loose as an extra man on them to counter their height and strength. I think Crouch will be given the job on Brad Green. I don't know what the Swans will do about Davey. Last week Port had...

    Worst Band Names

I was just thinking about this on the weekend when I heard Beck's cover of "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime" (it's from the soundtrack of the new Jim Carey film). The original was by a band called The Corgies - now that's a rockin' name!

    Godfather 2 on Ch10

I thought he was just one of Michael Corleone's henchmen.

    New APL will FAIL!

Sorry, but this is just wrong. Or else I've imagined all my years of being a SMSC member, of going along to South games with other non-Greeks, of watching South teams with plenty of non-Greek players.

    Thrillers

Maybe shows theres some fighting spirit in the team as well. eg in the Essendon game they were thrashed in the opening quarter but wouldn't lie down, and in the Bulldogs game there were a couple of times when it looked like the Doggies had the game in the bag, but West Coast kept coming back...

Do you like Port's new away strip?

BTW from the top level of the Great Southern Stand it's almost impossible to read the players' numbers. Probably doesn't worry the Port fans too much as you know who the players are, but annoying for a neutral.

    Swans vs Roos

I think you should do that every week! ;)

    Swans vs Roos

I was worried about this game because North are a very underated team. But that was easily Sydney's best performance of the year so far. What stood out was how hard they were at the ball, apart from the first 15 minutes. It's not often that a team is harder at the ball than North. Jude...

    Neighbours - Joe Scully

Re: questions? I'd like to see a romance between Harold and Gino. I'd like to see Gus become a serial killer, knock off some of the more annoying characters (Serena, Connor, Rocco for starters), then set fire to himself. Oh and I'd like to see a women's prison across the road from Ramsey St...

Matching you AFL clubs with EPL clubs!!!

In Roy Keane's "autobiography" he didn't say anything about the rumoured affair. Yet Keane didn't pull too many punches on other issues in the book. Anyway, here's what Keane wrote: "At the time some us felt that there may have been more to Eric's departure than revealed in the press...

    Neighbours - Joe Scully

Especially when he's got a 12 month old son! Or even a major renovation of his house, him being a builder and all!

    Neighbours - Joe Scully

I don't mind him, though I wonder how he got through so much of his life without being diagnosed with ADD before  Most annoying character is creepy Gus. A lot of wooden actors have graced the Neighbours set, but he's got to be the most wooden.

Matching you AFL clubs with EPL clubs!!!

Unfortunately I can see clear parallels between the two teams I support - the Swans and Coventry City. Both have been depressingly mediocre in all the years I've supported them, very few moments of joy to counter the long bleak depressing periods - there was an FA Cup win in 87, a GF appearance...

Oh well, when you put it that way, Greed is Good!

What do you think of a Brisbane 4th Premiership?

I supported Brisbane once my team was out of it the last 3 years, but I don't know, 4's getting greedy. Might be nice to see someone else win it this time.

Perf win last NSL grand final

Congratulations to Perth for back-to-back championships. Deserved to win, should've won it earlier but for two unbelievable misses from Mori. Pity about the weather - ruined any chance of an entertaining attacking spectacle. But still a pretty exciting game anyway.

Team of the Week: Round 1

I only saw 4 games but Black Thunder's team looks pretty good. Going on what I saw, I would've picked either Jade Rawlings or Richo ahead of Matera. I would've also gone for Martin Pike ahead of Goodes at HF, and found a spot for Krakouer on the bench. Hard to split 3 ruckmen - Everitt, Ottens...

    Nsl Championship 2003/2004

And pretty spot on there too, KiNgCliVe. Just as an example, Perth when they played there lost 6-0 and 4-2.:) BTW South did make the semi, and would've reached the Preliminary Final too but for a now infamous refereering display and possible anti-South conspiracy ;)

    Round One Rising Star

Good choice - forgot about him. He probably had a better all-round game than Davey.

    Brisbane - Swans Post-mortem

Pikey's a legend, especially when he swears on national TV! Seriously under-rated - I remember even back when he was playing for Fitzroy, in that disastrous final year when they hardly won a game, he seemed the only one that was trying a lot of the time. I just wish he wouldn't keep turning on...

    Round One Rising Star

Jarrad McVeigh made a handy debut for the Swans, but it wasn't a Rising Star of the Week performance. Is Aaron Davey eligible? I thought he was just about Melbourne's best player and must be a chance.
