We did hear on the coast last year that both Launceston and North Launceston had made some inquiries about joining the NWFL if the TSL ends. I don't know if that was correct but it may be.
Disappointing to hear of the situation at Glenorchy, they are one of the states traditional clubs and by the sound of it re-joining the SFL may be a good option for them. I know that up the coast here when Burnie and Devonport left the TSL it all started the same way, with players walking away...
Heard that rumour up the coast but as I understand it he has already signed again with Penguin. He has done a great job at Penguin this year they only lost the grand final by 3 points but had plenty of chances to win it.
. I agree with you that clubs should always advertise coaching positions. Another good example of inside appointments is AFL Tas, there have been a lot of local candidates in all 3 regions who understand Tassy football at all levels of our game who never get a chance to get into senior positions...
Disappointing to see the situation with East Devonport, they have been having problems for a number of years now so this really came as no surprise. They are retaining their junior programme so hopefully they can rebuild and get up and going again. They have always been very strong financially...
Thats a difficult question. I think their initial idea of 1 player per TSL club is fair and it was pleasing to see them include the coast in the program as there is plenty of young talent in the NWFL. The only answer to your question I can think of is that if some clubs have several players...
I cant see any club wanting to join the TSL at the moment with its future in such doubt and it seems to me the player exodus at some southern clubs is a re-run of what happened with the 2 NW clubs 3 years ago. I don't think there is any chance of any NW club (or NWFL combined side) ever going...
Its a surprise to me the number of players leaving the TSL clubs for the lower leagues in the south of the state. If it is anything like up here in the North and North West the amount of money being thrown around is incredible. Players being offered $1000 or more a game is not too uncommon and I...
It seems a lot of southern TSL players are leaving their clubs for lower leagues. I am just wondering if its the money that is attractive to them or is it the unbalanced nature of the TSL these days. Its obvious that the TSL needs more sides in the North but I cant see the NW clubs ever coming...
Even though the coastal teams are not in the TSL anymore (I wish they were) I still keep an eye on the TSL and as we all know North Launceston have just won another flag. Its hard to see an end to the domination of the league by North Launceston and possibly Launceston as well. Launceston...
Unfortunately footy in Tassie is not what it used to be and sadly I think it will only get worse due to the changing lifestyles in our society as you pointed out. Both North Launceston and Launceston lost a lot of players over the summer to local leagues and it makes me wonder if interest in the...
I think Launceston have lost quite a few as well. As far as I know all the Burnie Dockers youngsters that were forced to play with them last year won't be there this year and I don't know if that is coincidence or whether there is more to the story, 2 of them have gone to Clarence and I'm not...
I think AFL Tas have made a great choice for the TAC Cup team by appointing Adrian Fletcher. Lots of footy experience at the top level and also coaching under age sides. Great to see a passionate Tasmanian get the job.
I am disappointed the coast is no longer represented in the TSL. In my opinion there has to be 2 teams, the one team model some people have talked about just makes the travel situation worse. From the people I know at both Burnie and Devonport the 2 clubs now feel a lot more connected with the...
First year done and dusted without the coastal teams. I have still taken an interest in the TSL from a distance but I wonder whether it can be successful into the future with the current unbalanced North/South make-up. I know it was expected that the North West would become a recruiting ground...
I agree with your comments about having the grand final after all the other leagues are finished. Its just common sense really. We had the same thing on the coast with the NWFL Grand Final on the same day as the Darwin Association Grand Final in Burnie and the same thing happened last year...
Lauderdale for me against Glenorchy as well. They will face a big task to beat North next week if they win today but I think they are the only team in the comp at the moment who have any chance of beating North. Upsets have happened before in grand finals and I think every non Northern Bombers...
I would like to see Glenorchy beat North Launy and although they should be competitive I think North will win by 5 or 6 goals.
The other game is hard to pick as Launceston at their best are a very good side and Lauderdale have been very good in the last few weeks. I will go for Lauderdale and if...
Interesting article in the Advocate today that footy historians may enjoy including a bit about Burnie's famous Montello Maulers.

I watched the last quarter as well. I couldn't believe it when the Launceston defender gave away that stupid 50m penalty. To do that at that stage of the game when his side was only a few points up was staggering. If I was coach that bloke wouldn't be playing next week.
I agree with what you say about better coaches etc and I would really like to see a NWC presence in the TSL, especially for the talented younger players in the region and there is plenty of them. I think its up to AFL Tas to come up with some innovative ideas to try and make the option of TSL...
I agree with you that the current 5 South/2 North model is unsustainable. The 2 Northern teams will dominate year after year. The competition needs at least 2 more Northern teams and the silly part of all that is that they already had them but AFL Tas completely ignored all the people who told...
I am starting to think this whole review process has been in vain but we will have to wait and see. If we get a VFL side what will be the focus of that. Brendon Gale was at the Burnie Footy club a few weeks ago and he said Richmonds VFL side is not about winning premierships, it is all about...
I cant wait to see what they are going to do for the NWC. There have been lots of promises in the past and nothing much has happened. I think everybody knows it was the excessive travel that was the killer blow for Burnie and Devonport and although I would really like to see at least one NWC...
It seems a bit difficult to get much of an idea what will go on in Tassie footy after Gill McLachlan's visit to the Coast yesterday. It looks like there wont be a VFL of NEAFL team for at least 3 or 4 years yet (if at all) and that makes sense to me as it would be silly to rush into anything...
Based on the article in the Mercury today about the latest steering committee meeting on the future of Tassy footy it almost seems like a certainty that the current TSL is a dead duck. It looks like an NEAFL team will be created and that team will use the money that was previously allocated to...
I like the idea of a high standard competition in the state but if you take a whole of state view of the TSL it just doesn't work for the NWC and really does 2 Launceston based club's in the competition give a fair and reasonable representation from the North of the state, I dont think so. I am...
