Packer AFL rights battle looms
From: AAP
December 29, 2005
JAMES Packer is expected to face his first major battle as head of the family empire with the Seven and Ten networks expected to ramp up the challenge to Nine's rights to broadcast AFL.
Kerry Packer secured the $780 million...
It might take a while to catch on, but this is a bloody top album. Private School Kid is a hit and the rest of the album is really good. She's got a great voice. She can do the rock, obviously, but the last track ballad goes all right as well. And she's hot. Go support some local talent.
I don't know if this is going to come out the way I want it, but here goes anyway.
Last year, we surged into the top four playing some of our best footy and got within a kick and a half of a Grand Final. For me, after that, the biggest thing was not the disappointment of missing the chance...
I guess the Oscars host lives or dies on how well their openiong monologue goes but I think he did a solid job. I'm not a massive Chris Rock fan but I thought he was quite good. It's certainly a generational change to have a guy like that, although I do like it when Billy Crystal hosts.
As...
Five cent coins are a great waste of time and space, and I think they should be taken out of circulation.
If you do, everything just gets rounded to the nearest 10 cents. The most you'd lose is 5 cents.
Anyone else agree?
Just wanted to know if anyone listen's to this show? I think it's hilarious. The two of them are a crack-up. Probably the funniest radio shows I've ever heard. Good stuff. Anyone else?
Herald Sun:
"OUTSPOKEN Australian Idol judge Ian "Dicko" Dickson will quit the series at the end of the year and join the Seven Network.
The shock move is a blow to Channel 10's hit Idol franchise, because Dickson was a key member of the show's judging panel alongside Marcia Hines and Mark...
I think we're more of a chance than people think. If we play to our best for four quarters we can push them, no question.
Kingsley seems the only inclusion.
Can we win? Will we win?
"Since the AFL went to the current format in 2000, qualifying final losers have followed up with a semi final win in seven of eight matches, with Port Adelaide in 2001 the only team to go out in ‘straight sets’.
In the first year of the format the Kangaroos bounced back from a 125 point loss...
Finally...we're here.
I don't go in overly confident of a win, but I think we can win this game. If we can be as close as we were the last time we played them, tehn it may be a different result. All the pressure is on them, who knows how they'll handle it.
Anyone want to have a guess at who will play when next week?
We'll assume the matches will be:
Port v Geelong
Brisbane v St Kilda
Melbourne v Essendon
Sydney v West Coast
My guess:
Melb v Ess - Friday night
Syd v WC - Saturday Arvo
Brisbane v Saints - Sat night
Port v Geelong - Sunday
Are you just as proud when the Aussies win a cycling medal as any other sport or has the whole drugs saga made you a bit sceptical and taken some of the shine off?
It's Wednesday and we still don't have a match thread. I guess it says something about the approach to this week's game.
Hopefully the players aren't in the same boat...
What are people expecting tonight?
I reckon he'll get the two week suspension reduced to one, while the one week suspension will stand.
Here's hoping, anyway...
Harvey to Hawthorn
If Terry Wallace is not appointed to Hawthorn, which it seems he won't, I believe Mark Harvey will coach Hawthorn.
I understand the Hawks wanted Harvey in 2000 but because of his lack of experience, they chose Peter Schwab instead. Now that he has been an assistant coach...
There's been a bit of discussion about Ten's decision to drop Steve Quartermain from the commentary line-up to be replaced by Tim Lane.
From the three of Quarters, Lane and Huddo, which two would you pick?
I'd pick Quarters and Huddo. They've done well together in the past so why change...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe I saw Richmond players, and also Aaron Hamill, wearing some sort of yellow arm band.
Anyone know what they were for?
