Is it time to unravel the Father-Son Rule?

I wasn't trying to be a smartarse or speculating on what might have been, I was just discussing ratings at the time. Woolnough was considered a top 10 prospect, as was Hawkins. Ablett wasn't, and neither was Scarlett. They may have gone high in their respective draft, but under the current...

Injury Lincoln McCarthy - injured ankle 7/5/16

It looks like he'll never get the chance to show I was right about him. He would have been huge for us this year if he had a full pre-season, now it looks unlikely he'll have any sort of career.

Is it time to unravel the Father-Son Rule?

Not quite true. Marc Woolnough was also widely considered a top 10 prospect.

    Allen Christensen - overrated?

He's a big loss for Geelong, no point denying that. He's a very damaging player, who wins his own ball and kicks goals. If his injuries clear up and he reaches his potential he could be an A grader, but isn't one yet.

Worst Choke job displayed by your team?

It was a ******* poor act, I thought we deserved to lose when I saw it.

Worst Choke job displayed by your team?

He didn't actually make the choke signal, he just had a go at his direct opponent before taking the kick.

    Roast Most disliked ex-Cat?

I've always felt (and heard) there's alot more to the Colbert story than has been made public. As a result I've always reserved judgement on him, in fact he seems like a good bloke. I can't stand Justin Murphy though. The only bloke I can think of associated with Geelong who I feel that way about.

List Mgmt. Welcome to Geelong Nakia Cockatoo - National Draft selection no. 10

I'd be happy if he had a first year similar to Lang. Gets through the VFL season injury free, plays an AFL game and shows he has a skill-set that could succeed at AFL level.

Worst Choke job displayed by your team?

Not every game we lose is a choke. Only chokes in that lot are the 2008 GF and the 2006 game against West Coast. The others are just loses, but I wouldn't call any chokes.

Preview How I and the rest of the comp views Collingwood in 2015.

He was good form at the end of the year (despite what some say), if he can replicate that he'll be a strong addition.

List Mgmt. Welcome to Geelong Nakia Cockatoo - National Draft selection no. 10

I never understood the hype around Smedts, but I remember before his debut in 2012 he was going to play all 22 games and win the rising star in a canter. I haven't sen nearly as much hype around Cockatoo.

Analysis Geelong vs top 4 rivals from 2009-2010 seasons

The improvement he showed in his 2 way running this year was excellent, even though his disposal improvement was small.

Analysis Geelong vs top 4 rivals from 2009-2010 seasons

Duncan has been solid in finals, always in our top 10, but never dominant. He needs one or 2 really big September games.

Analysis Geelong vs top 4 rivals from 2009-2010 seasons

I think most of us only rate Duncan over Griffen for season 2014. I'd take Griffen for 15 if given the choice.

    Hawthorn - three peat?

I couldn't care less about Travis Varcoe. The point was made about how great Langford is because he "20 & 3'd" in a Grand Final. I pointed out that Varcoe has done the same thing, and I've since been told he's a giant spud. My point was that getting 20 and 3 in a GF doesn't always make you a...

    Hawthorn - three peat?

That's my point, he's been shocking since. so the magical 20 & 3 in a GF doesn't mean much. Just sayin...

Analysis Geelong vs top 4 rivals from 2009-2010 seasons

Griffen averaged 20.8 touches and kicked 3 goals in 10 games. Duncan averaged 23.667 touches and kicked 12 goals in 12 games. Not an enormous difference on simple stats, but a win to Duncan.

You do know Travis Varcoe did that, how do you rate him since 2011?

Analysis Geelong vs top 4 rivals from 2009-2010 seasons

I watched all bar about 3 dogs games this year (not sure why), and Griffen simply had a down year due to his back problems. Libba on the other hand was ******* sensational.

You shouldn't trade pick 21 for insurance for injured players. If that happens, Stanley will find a role, and we'll settle nicely into 10th place.

It is harsh, but I'm prepared to stand by it unless he proves me wrong. Also, I'm not writing off Stanley before he's played a game, I just think we grossly overpaid for him, and I don't see how he fits into our side.

Analysis Geelong vs top 4 rivals from 2009-2010 seasons

Yes. Griffen was very hampered and inconsistent, and wasn't running both ways the way he was in 2013. I'm not suggesting Duncan is a better player, just that he had a better year.

Analysis Geelong vs top 4 rivals from 2009-2010 seasons

Not Libba, but he had a better year than Griffen.

If Stanley is a "known quantity" then we have badly mucked up this trade. The only thing we know about Stanley is he's capable of being a barely adequate, inconsistent, no. 2 forward for the worst team in the comp. He'd need to develop much more on what he's shown.

Analysis Geelong vs top 4 rivals from 2009-2010 seasons

and his side finished 14th. I've watched alot of Dahlhaus in the past few years, doesn't consistently impact games the way Duncan does, he's honestly not close.
  27. T

Analysis Geelong vs top 4 rivals from 2009-2010 seasons

No he wouldn't, not in the same league as Duncan ATM. Keep in mind Duncan just came top 3 in the b & f in a top 8 side, Dahlhaus couldn't crack the top 3 in a side that finished 14th.

Coulda. Woulda. Shoulda. Didn't. Best Grand Final that never was.

We cocked up that 05 match-up too. We were absolutely cooked at half time of the semi that year, had we held on the Saints would have played the Eagles in the GF.

irreverent ir·rev·er·ent (ĭ-rĕv′ər-ənt) adj. 1. Lacking or exhibiting a lack of reverence; disrespectful. 2. Critical of what is generally accepted or respected; satirical: irreverent humor. Seems fitting given you potted him for a minor typo.

His inability to get through a pre-season has hurt him to this point. His football ability is clear, but he'll need to develop more strings to his bow, and if he can get through 2015 injury free, he'll do that. I think calling him a "3rd forward" is spot on. In that role you need to be able to...
