I just explained it to you.
It's always the same with you people: ask an irrelevant, nothing question, misinterpret the answer and walk away in 'victory' while everyone around you thinks you're completely stupid.
Let me spell it out for you simply;
I have NFI who the other senators pushing...
Well, they liaised with the police for over a decade in various roles within pride, as well as work, and have spent a long time in the community.
I'd trust their judgement over someone I don't know on the internet, posting a selectively edited video with zero context
As someone who knows the former secretary of Brisbane Pride quite well, the police float very much should be there.
He used to get enraged when a small minority would protest the police presence on the Pride days here in Brisbane, because:
1) Without police support there would be no parade...
Lidia Thorpe apparently lost the plot at Mardi Gras tonight:

Why are private schools publicly funded in the first place? They shouldn't receive any funding whatsoever, considering they're pretty much all religious schools.
The government money wasted on them could be put toward improving the public system.
Indigenous people get tonnes of handouts and opportunities.
I'm not against it in any way but it's interesting to note that they get access to additional study, training and employment opportunities, income benefits from the government, favourable home loans, etc. Dunno about the tax thing...
I don't know whether 'they' will be happy or not but go ahead and change the date if they believe it will make it so.
If nothing changes, then we'll know for sure that Australia day was never the issue to begin with.
Just give it a go and see what happens, not like it's a long standing...
Personally I have no attachment to the Austalian flag but surely a flag needs to represent all cultures that now make up Australia and not 2 indigenous groups, no?
A new flag needs to be inclusive to all but it can certainly include elements of the Aboriginal and TI flags as a starting point.
If they want to govern themselves, honestly I'm all for it.
That means they'll need to generate their own tax dollars, enforce laws, etc. They'd still be subject to regular law in non-indigenous communities however.
Go ahead and give it a go.
Why not just change the name instead to national 'Sorry' day and organise educational workshops in city/town centres, where people can connect with the traditional owners and learn the history of the people who originally inhabited the land?
The date itself would actually remain relevant...
I don't 'celebrate' any of those days but to correct your ridiculous claim about hypocrisy:
- Melbourne cup happens every year, it's not like it happened once 150 years ago and is only a public holiday in Victoria anyway. I live in Brisbane.
- ANZAC day is a relatively sombre event that...
By all means change the date, but I don't expect the people who protest against it to feel any better whatsoever. If they're getting this upset over events that happened 200 years ago, they're the type to be perpetually outraged over anything.
So change the date if you want, just don't expect...
