Encouraging that he was the first one in to fly the flag for Dustin Martin in the fracas behind the goals (in the third quarter?). He looked fairly tanked in the last quarter but it was 3 on 6 up forward at one stage. Never gave up. Would love to see him on the main list.
Some of the best games I saw him play as a junior in Qld were on wet or dewy grounds in night games. His competitive attitude keeps him in the contest even if conditions might not always suit. Hopefully he'll get a run this weekend in conditions that aren't fast and dry. Show what he can do on a...
That might be the position he's best suited. A bit away from the crash and bash of the middle but able to pinch hit in the ruck if required. Didn't Richmond have a reasonable tall wingman once? Anyway, no-one has a crystal ball but I wish Mabior all the best.
I think Brisbane have put their chips on draft pick Hipwood, not too many agile 200cm left-footers who can ruck and kick goals. Then again Brisbane don't want to put all its eggs in the x-factor basket. I hope Brisbane's loss will be Richmond's gain.
Mabior (pronounced MAH-bee-oh) played with my son in junior footy in Queensland. He is a great lad, good team player, fabulous left foot and exciting mark. Turn of speed in the open is incredible, and he loves to tackle. He deserves a crack at AFL footy. Tiges have done well here.
